💡 Hot take from a Gen Z: Success isn’t just about tech skills anymore; it’s the human skills that really move the needle. Theo Vander Heyden's journey at the Public Transport Authority, perfectly illustrates this. Starting as a Student Rail Engineer through PTA’s award-winning Vacation Program in 2020, Theo grew through a structured graduate program that combined technical training with mentorship focused on essential interpersonal skills. This blend set Theo up to thrive in a people-centred role, proving that “soft skills” are anything but soft. Check out the article to see why building human skills matters now more than ever. What human skills do you think are game changers in your career? We'd hear your thoughts in the comments! #PublicTransportAuthority #GraduateRoles #GraduateProgram #Mentorship #NextGenLeaders #RailwayCareers https://lnkd.in/dcRF3z38

Unlocking Creativity and Collaboration—One LEGO Brick at a Time! 🧩 Our Infrastructure Planning and Land Services (IPLS) team recently stepped away from their desks to dive into the ultimate creative challenge: LEGO Legends! This fun, fast-paced team-building session put problem-solving, communication, and imagination to the test—guided by themes from sport and culture to horror (yes, Friday the 13th inspired some spooky builds 👻). Why LEGO? Because it perfectly embodies the spirit of the divisional charter—tackling complex problems through innovative thinking and collaboration. With a diverse group of disciplines, teams combined practical logic with bold creativity to craft showstopping sculptures. 🏆 Special shoutout to the team who built the Superman logo—winning the prize for the most original creation! Beyond fun and games, this event also gave back: we raised $800 for Radio Lollipop Australia with additional full LEGO sets donated to brighten kids’ hospital stays. #PublicTransportAuthority #TeamBuilding #Innovation #Collaboration #LEGO

This NAIDOC Week, we come together to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Held from 6 to 13 July, NAIDOC Week invites us all to reflect on the next generation—young leaders who carry forward the strength, vision and legacy of their communities. This year’s theme, ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’, celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors. It is a call to acknowledge the stories of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and to empower their journey forward. This year’s NAIDOC Week also marks a significant milestone – 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture and resilience. The PTA honoured NAIDOC Week for 2025 with a special presentation from Ashley G., Aboriginal Engagement Lead for Alstom, celebrating the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s artwork in future rollingstock for the Australind train. Ashley said, NAIDOC Week 2025 "for me, means the legacy my Elders, parents and knowledge keepers have shared with me, taught me and shown me the importance of culture and celebrating who I am, who’s my mob and being proud of my culture and upbringing in Noongar country. The strength of my family, moorditj mates and peers encourage me to stand tall and proud as a Ballardong/Whadjuk Noongar leader. Finally, the vision for my children through teaching them our ways, our language, our faith and to keep that fire burning for their mob” He also spoke about how this year’s theme connects to his work at Alstom ANZ, “Bringing together our people, supporting Aboriginal engagement, and extending that message and action to our customers, partners and contractors—ensuring we are proactive and accountable to the Strength, Legacy and Vision left by our Elders, our leaders and the wider Noongar community fighting for inclusion, diversity and change.” We are grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we work together toward a more inclusive and connected future. #NAIDOC2025 #TheNextGeneration #AboriginalAndTorresStraitIslanderPeoples #Inclusion #CulturalHeritage #StrengthVisionLegacy #Reconciliation #PublicTransportAuthority
