Set up tracing on dogfood #730
Description
Our most expensive and frequently called DB queries are difficult to diagnose because they are called from many parts of the codebase.
Distributed tracing that included spans from API calls and background jobs linked to DB queries would help immensely.
This task includes ensuring our product supports generating this kind of tracing as well as enabling it in our dogfood deployment against a suitable backend like Grafana Tempo.
