How to handle user file inputs/outputs in MCP python?

When a user uploads a file on chatGPT interface, I want it to trigger a MCP Tool that processes the file and then return a new output file to the chatGPT interface for user download.

How to handle user file inputs/outputs in MCP python? Is it documented somewhere?

Maybe you don't understand what MCP is? Your requirement here is to tell LLM to pass the files uploaded by users to a certain MCP tool, and then provide the files returned by MCP for users to download.

MCP is giving tool to the agent that he can use, what you could is maybe setup an LLM and give him access to an MCP tool that checks a folder on your machine, that folder is gonna be the one where you upload your file.
If you want something like chatGpt, I don't advice you to use MCP for that as its not how we normally do it in the industry, either you give to the agent as context (the file content) or you setup a simple RAG system if you have lot of files (which is what chatGPT and other platforms do)
