Last week, we welcomed more stakeholders to our South Tyneside Council, Mortimer Community College extension project, for a special steel signing ceremony this included members of the NEPO framework team, who joined us on site to see firsthand the fantastic progress being made. Councillor Liz McHugh, Lead Member for Children, Families, Social Care, Education and Skills: “This steel signing ceremony marks a proud and symbolic milestone in this exciting development. It’s not only a moment to reflect on the progress so far, but also a heartfelt tribute to everyone who has contributed to its success. By signing these steel columns, we’re leaving a lasting legacy, one that will be built into the very fabric of the building, acting as a hidden tribute to the collaboration, commitment and community spirit that’s bringing this vision to life. This development forms part of our continued investment in school infrastructure, increasing capacity and ensuring our young people have access to high-quality learning environments. Our Commercial Director, Matt Searston, visited the Jessop Wing, part of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to make the second of three planned charity donations. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who donated through our GoFundMe page, we were able to contribute £1,150 to Sheffield Hospitals Charity  to support the vital work of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The unit provides neonatal intensive care and special care for sick and premature babies born in Sheffield and those transferred from other units who need their expertise. We were proud to visit Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare to make the first of three financial donations to our chosen charities. Lindsey Lodge is based close to our head office in Scunthorpe, and has successfully been providing high-quality, specialist palliative and wellbeing care to local people and their families for over 30 years. As an independent charity, they rely on external funding to provide a wide range of vital services, all aimed at improving quality of life and supporting patients and their loved ones with dignity and compassion. Through the Britcon Foundation, we are pleased to donate £1,150 from funds raised in memory of Ashley Kent earlier this year. Last week, we had the honour of welcoming two current students and one very special former student to a steel signing event at our £3.8 million Mortimer Community College project in South Tyneside. This event marked a major milestone in the construction of the new three-storey extension for South Tyneside Council. Among the guests were the school’s youngest current student and its oldest current member, who were joined by Valerie, aged 100, one of the oldest known living former students of Mortimer Community College. Their presence was a powerful symbol of the school’s rich history and bright future, bringing together generations of learners in a truly memorable moment. The steel signing provided students with an opportunity to leave their mark on a space that will shape their learning journey for years to come. When completed the extension will add further facilities to one of the most oversubscribed secondary schools in South Tyneside. Our scope of works includes: ⚙️ Reconfigured internal spaces for improved functionality, including new dining, technology, art, science and general teaching spaces. 🛣️ Rerouting of the existing access road 🚘 Creation and relocation of 46 parking bays We’re extremely proud to be part of this project, procured via the NEPO building framework, helping to bring another school to life and engaging students along the way. We are excited to be appointed as the Principal Contractor to deliver the new £14.7m, NETA Training Engineering Centre in Thornaby. This landmark 5,000 m2 transformative project that will shape the future of engineering and construction training across the Tees Valley. Situated on the Stockton Riverside College campus in Thornaby, will see the development of a purpose-built, two-storey Engineering Centre along with the refurbishment of an existing building to house gas, electric, and mechanical workshops.
