  • "What we are hearing from our colleagues at the Palestine Red Crescent Society in Gaza is deeply distressing. Imagine for 15 days, most of them haven't had a single piece of bread, the few who can afford it are paying $30 for a single pack of spaghetti. One father shared with me that his son told him: "Father, let's try to sleep early as we don't feel the hunger at night." - Mey El Sayegh, head of communications for the Middle East and North Africa at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC

    • "Hunger, it's everywhere, it's applicable to everyone. PRCS colleagues who receive only one meal a day are choosing to give it to their children.

I don’t know how our colleagues continue, they are supposed to be the first responders and are providing food to people whilst they themselves are hungry.

Our teams are providing glimmers of hope amid utter horror."

Mey El Sayegh, Head of communications – IFRC MENA
  • Watching what's going on in the world right now can affect us all in different ways. But remember that you're not alone in all of this. Call a friend, try a random act of kindness, look for hope in the everyday, and remember it's OK to switch off, or to reach out for support. ❤️

    • Illustration of two hands reaching out to one another with the following text surrounding it: "The news may be heavy right now, so remember to check on loved ones. And while you're looking out for others, don't forget to look after yourself."
  • Over the weekend, 100 Egyptian Red Crescent aid trucks entered Gaza, carrying vital food supplies. In the face of immense challenges, Red Cross and Red Crescent teams are working tirelessly to navigate complex realities and deliver life-saving support. But the situation remains catastrophic, and the crisis is deepening with every passing hour. The humanitarian aid now being let into Gaza is simply not enough to meet the needs of civilians, who are running out of options. Efforts must be scaled up significantly, and they must continue, to make sure people can get the crucial support they need – now, and for the months and years ahead.

    • "This is not just a crisis for today – it’s a crisis for generations to come."

- Naziha El Moussaoui, food security and livelihoods advisor at the British Red Cross
  • The announcement of increased aid and temporary humanitarian pauses to facilitate safer movement and distributions, is welcome. However, these efforts must be scaled up significantly, and sustained, to ensure timely, unimpeded delivery of relief.

  • Food is everything. It is life. It is what mothers need to keep their babies with them on this earth, it is what children need to grow, it is what adults need to keep vital organs ticking. Without it, people do not have a future.  Aid must be allowed into Gaza without delay, and at scale, to prevent more devastating deaths.

No one should have to risk their life to get basic humanitarian assistance. Recent weeks have seen desperate people risking their lives just to receive basic aid in #Gaza. The population is facing an acute risk of famine, with continuously worsening conditions. Basic food supplies are no longer available in markets or distribution points. The cost of remaining essentials, such as flour, has skyrocketed, with 1 kilogram now reaching as much as $20, making it impossible for two million people to meet their minimum daily nutritional needs. Once again, we reiterate our call for full and unhindered access for humanitarian assistance. Aid must be guaranteed and delivered at scale to meet the overwhelming needs.

  • With almost no aid for over four and a half months, hope is fading fast across Gaza. Despite grave security risks and dwindling resources, the Palestine Red Crescent Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross continue doing everything they can, with what they have, to support people through continued heartbreak and devastation.

It arrived so quickly which made a real difference to mum’s wellbeing. We were expecting it to be at least two weeks but it came in a couple of days. She’s really appreciative and wants to say thank you to the Red Cross, as does our family." A red box is displayed underneath the white box which contains the following white text: "Sharman, Brenda's daughter".

A quote from Teresa displayed in black text on a white box on the image reads: "They both said that they were glad they had the wheelchairs. It made it much easier for them to enjoy the day without having to worry about getting too tired. We could see that they were both looking happy." A red box is displayed underneath the white box which contains the following white text "Teresa, Alan and Shirley’s daughter-in-law".
  • People in Gaza are living on the brink. They need food, water, medicine and safety. There must be a sustained and unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Aid agencies, like the Palestine Red Crescent Society, must be able to deliver it to people who need it most. Civilians and humanitarian workers must be protected, aid must reach those in need and hostages must be released without condition.
