About us
Flannery Plant Hire is the UK's biggest plant hire company, operating for over fifty years from a network of ten depots in Aberdeen, Northumberland, Dublin, Manchester, Birmingham, Bicester, Newport, Leighton Buzzard, Great Yarmouth and, of course, our purpose-built Head Office depot next to Wembley Stadium. Our fleet of over 5000 machines includes the UK's largest offering of hybrid and electric plant. We're able to provide excavators, articulate dump trucks (ADTs), telehandlers, tractors, bowsers, rollers, motor graders, loaders and more. We also are proud to have over 2500 trained operators available to provide to sites across the country. However, what we’re most proud of is that we’re still, at our core, a family business with strong values at its heart.

Flannery has officially opened the doors to our brand-new Glasgow depot, marking a major milestone in our continued commitment to Scotland’s infrastructure and construction sectors. While this may be a new opening, our presence in Scotland is anything but new. From our longstanding Aberdeen depot and early support on the A90 AWPR project, to a proven track record across energy, rail, utilities, and major civils schemes, we’ve been proud to play our part in building Scotland’s future, side by side with local operators and clients. Our new Glasgow site represents more than just increased geographic coverage; it’s a dedicated hub that will: - Strengthen support for key infrastructure projects - Create new opportunities for local employment and apprenticeships - Drive our investment in training, innovation, and sustainable operations - Deepen partnerships across the region This expansion reflects our long-term vision to deliver safer, smarter, and more sustainable plant hire solutions, further defined by a skilled and local workforce. A huge thank you to our team and partners who made this possible, and here’s to many more successful years working across Scotland. #FlanneryScotland #GlasgowDepot #Infrastructure #ConstructionScotland #PlantHire #Apprenticeships #GreenConstruction #TeamFlannery #SkillsLegacy #ScotlandBuilds

Flannery Plant Hire is proud to announce a significant new investment in 220 JCB machines, reinforcing a trusted partnership that spans more than five decades. This long-standing relationship began in 1972, when our founder, Paddy Flannery, purchased his first JCB 3C backhoe loader, a milestone that laid the foundation for a partnership between two family-owned businesses committed to excellence in construction and innovation. To commemorate this latest milestone, the families connected at JCB’s global headquarters. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, celebrate a shared legacy, and look ahead to an exciting future of continued collaboration. We extend our sincere thanks to Greenshields JCB Limited JCB for facilitating the order and to the entire team at JCB for their generous hospitality and ongoing support. The new fleet, comprising Loadalls, X Series excavators, dumpers, mini excavators, and more, will be delivered throughout 2025 and deployed to support major infrastructure programmes across the UK. Innovation, Everywhere
Family-owned Flannery Plant Hire has invested in a massive fleet of 220 new JCB machines in a deal worth more than £22 million.

Every business has a beginning, but few are built like this. This film is a rare and intimate look into the lives of Mary and Paddy Flannery, our founders, and the heartbeat of everything Flannery stands for. Their story isn’t just about starting a company. It’s about sacrifice, strength, and a belief in something bigger than themselves, in building a future for their family, their community, and the generations to come. Through quiet determination and unwavering values, they laid the foundations for what Flannery is today, not just a name, but a legacy. We’re proud to share this rare feature with you as we begin to share our journey with all those who have contributed to where we are today.

Today, everyone at Flannery Plant Hire is thinking of Noel Barry and his family. Noel worked with us on various projects for over 30 years and was a valued part of the Flannery team. He was always a pleasure to work with - known for his professionalism, kind nature and dedication. Well known and well respected across the industry, Noel left a lasting impression on clients, colleagues and fellow operators alike. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him. Our thoughts are with his loved ones today.
