We are delighted that Sid, who we support in our new Extra Care apartments in Harrow, cut the ribbon alongside the Mayor of Harrow Council to officially open the service last week. A budding community is already beginning to form. Outside, where the gardening club was planting herbs in their new space, we had a lovely chat with Jitu. He shared, "I just moved in and I’ve already made friends. I invite them round to my flat and make them tea. We have a tea club in the lounge with everyone too." Sid kindly gave us a tour of his home. He had decorated it with bright ornaments that brought cheer to us all. "I'm glad to be here. I've got my freedom. I do my own cooking. The people who work here are very kind, and I just like living here. It's very nice," said Sid. Following the tour, the Mayor, Councillor Anjana Patel, wished the people we support well in their new chapter: "It gives me great pleasure to be here today to celebrate the opening of these apartments. It’s not just brick and mortar, but a region of dignity, independence, and community." Service Director Mahip Singh is proud of everyone involved and excited for the future of the service. He said, "The residents’ well-being and independence is of utmost importance to us and we will ensure that these living spaces are a source of joy. We will work hard to establish meaningful community connections with the entire neighbourhood." Congratulations everyone - we can't wait to hear more from you in the coming months!
