The Lyminster Bypass, of which Jackson constructed the northern section on behalf of West Sussex County Council, was officially opened on Friday. The council’s cabinet member for Highways and Transport, Councillor Joy Dennis cut the ribbon on the new 1.8 kilometre-long road, which will significantly reduce journey times to and from Littlehampton and Bognor Regis. The northern section features a 225-metre viaduct which crosses a flood plain. It required 96 foundation piles drilled through soft ground into the chalk base to support 121 horizontal concrete beams, each weighing up to 55 tonnes. A key aspect of this project was the varying ground conditions, which presented both design and delivery issues. We have worked in close collaboration with our designer, WSP and with our client, West Sussex County Council, throughout both the design and construction periods to make this project a success, enabling Jackson to complete the project within the target cost and to programme. #lyminster #viaduct #sussex #collaboration #civilengineering #goodworks

We operate out of seven regional offices, which means our local knowledge in these areas is second to none, and it's great for our guys too because we make sure they get home every night.

No day is ever the same in my career—and that’s exactly what I love about it! Today I had the chance to do some filming with the Supply Chain Sustainability School (UK) - Fairness, Inclusion & Respect Programme Team as part of their ‘Black Hats’ Project, commissioned by CITB The videos will be featured in a new app launching in September, designed to support those working on UK construction sites, focused on how we can all be more inclusive on site, helping to create environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe. This work is so important—not just for our teams, but for our customers, stakeholders, and the communities we build for. Inclusion on site leads to better outcomes for everyone involved, something I care about very much and something we at Jackson Civil Engineering make a priority. It was a pleasure to contribute to this project and I can’t wait to see the final version. Huge thanks to the brilliant team behind it and asking for me to be apart of this great project Dana James-Edwards and it was great to meet you Saira Khan and Sara Gouveia 🙌 #Inclusion #FIR #Respect #Belonging #Construction #BlackHatsProject #SupplyChainSustainabilitySchool #CITB #Diversity #NoDayTheSame #Customer #GOODWORKS #NationalHighways

Congratulations to the Jackson team who oversaw the repair of #Filey seawall recently. They picked up a Highly Commended award in the Regeneration and Conservation category at the Constructing Excellence - Yorkshire and Humber Awards, held at Leeds Armouries last week. The team completed the £2.95m, 10-month maintenance scheme at Filey on behalf of North Yorkshire Council in June, working outside the busy summer season to minimise the impact on the coastal community. #yorkshirecoast #regeneration #floodprotection #civilengineering #goodworks

School pupils living in and around the Nottinghamshire village of Lowdham have benefitted from Jackson's innovative approach to engagement. A Jackson team is based here constructing a flood storage reservoir on behalf of the Environment Agency. Jackson Public Liaison Officer Phil Waines worked with teachers at Lowdham Primary School to deliver four, two-hour workshops, culminating in a lively village council debate where pupils took on roles as developers, councillors, presenters and protesters, and parent audience members were invited to vote on the most persuasive proposal. Lowdham also recently played host to students from nearby Toot Hill Secondary School who were given an insight into the career opportunities available in the civil engineering sector. With input from partners Arcadis and Binnies, students took part in a range of hands-on activities, including a dam-building task, biodiversity session and a maths-based exercise based on Jackson’s use of drone technology. #engagement #socialvalue #careers #civilengineering #lowdham #goodworks

A Jackson team working at the Port of Dover is featured in a new documentary about life at the Kent terminal. Episode 6 of ‘Dover 24/7: Britain's Busiest Port,’ broadcast earlier this week on Channel 4, shows the team’s contribution to ensuring the infrastructure is in place for the EU's new Entry/Exit System (EES). The documentary was filmed last August and features the erection of a new coach facility and canopy at the port, in the Eastern and Western Docks, to house port operators who will assist with passengers' biometric registration before they proceed to passport control. A Jackson team is making good progress painting the QEII Bridge at Dartford. Working on behalf of client Connect Plus, we have appointed specialists Denholm Industrial Services to carry out the surface preparation and painting. This season the work is focussed on steelwork on the Kent side of the bridge where the steel beams are cleaned before applying up to five protective coatings to prevent corrosion. The primer and build coats are different shades of grey, so workers can tell what layer they are on, while the final layer is a rich, dark green. #bridges #M25 #headforheights #collaboration #goodworks Paul Watson

I am happy to announce that our repair scheme in Filey has been shortlisted at the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber awards in both the Infra Project of the Year and the Regeneration categories. Testament to the many many hours put in by a lot of dedicated people across the full project life cycle so far. It doesn't look like much, but it hides so many levels of complexity in the pursuit of maintaining a very important part of our UK heritage which means so much to so many. It is also a great demonstration of trying to change the public perception of construction and putting their needs and considerations at the forefront. Well done team and let's have a great night regardless...you have already won in the eyes of the people of Filey👏 😊 #GoodWorks Jackson Civil Engineering Waterman Group Royal HaskoningDHV

Jackson Civil Engineering pleased to make it onto the South East General Construction Lot. #Goodworks!
Peel Ports Group awards £750m construction frameworks across UK and Ireland Peel Ports Investments Limited has awarded a suite of general and marine construction frameworks worth up to £750m across the UK and Ireland. The frameworks, which cover eight lots, were procured through a negotiated procedure and have been let for an initial term of four years, with the option of two two-year extensions. Work under the frameworks will span general construction and marine infrastructure at major port locations including Liverpool, Sheerness, Glasgow, and Dublin. The frameworks support Peel Ports’ ambition to achieve net-zero operations by 2040. The frameworks cover a broad spectrum of works including drainage, piling, reinforced concrete, surfacing, bridge construction and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) installations. Marine elements include quay walls, jetty and fender installations, and linkspan bridge works. The contracts were structured to support design-and-build delivery, and require firms to bring experience in sustainable construction and collaboration. Peel Ports said the frameworks are designed to provide “cost surety, quality and programme efficiency” and to allow for the transfer of best practice from other sectors. It awarded four separate contracts covering general construction: **North West: Murphy Group, Octavius Infrastructure, Spencer Group, and Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure were each awarded work. **South East, ERITH CONTRACTORS LIMITED and JACKSON FRAMEWORKS LIMITED were awarded contracts. **Scotland’s general construction work (lot 1SC) was split between Mackenzie Construction, Story Contracting Limited and Taziker Industrial. **Dublin - Glencar and Bachy Soletanche secured work on the general construction lot. Marine construction frameworks were also split regionally. **North West - AE Yates and Southbay Civil Engineering Ltd. **South East - GPS Marine Contractors Ltd and J.T.MACKLEY & CO.LIMITED & Co. ** Scotland - Charles Brand and RJ McLeod (Contractors) Limited. Two major national works contracts, in a separate lot were awarded to GRAHAM Group and McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd. www.constructionnews.co.uk
