Today, British Gas called for a ban on Octopus taking on new customers "because of financial resilience" - although we meet our regulator Ofgem's rules, bailed out Bulb during the energy crisis to save taxpayers billions - and have built a hugely valuable business through our relentless investment in technology to deliver better service, value and innovation. I used to work at British Gas, and moved to fledging Octopus 8 years because I was frustrated by a moribund status quo, and believed customers, society and the economy would better served by competition, customer obsession, and investment in innovation over lobbying. I'm very grateful to the warmth of customers who support us against such bullying...and I urge British Gas to obsess about their customers, rather than us...

RISE – Resilient Independent Solar Energy – will accelerate the deployment of thousands of solar panels and batteries on factories, offices, shops, hospitals and other buildings across Ukraine – equipping them with an independent source of power that cannot be knocked out by the russian missiles that have rained down on our power stations since 2022. #RISEforUkraine combines the strengths of two national energy champions: ☀️ DTEK brings a customer base of 3.5 million and expertise in installing solar panels and battery storage for homes and businesses. 🐙 Octopus brings its world-class, AI-driven Kraken Flex technology to optimise real time usage and save customers even more money. 💸 We now need capital to make it a reality. That is why we are calling on governments, financial institutions, impact investors and purpose-driven organisations to back the project through grants, commercial loans and guarantees – lowering the real world cost of installation for businesses. We believe this programme can attract up to €100 million over the next three years – unlocking the growth potential of #renewables, and in turn, helping rebuild the Ukrainian economy.
