About us

The PMA gives clinical and non-clinical workers throughout the UK the opportunity to access a wide range of resources such as training, professional advice, educational events, conferences and peer networking. The PMA is an ILM recognised provider, offering education to develop the skills needed to better understand the business aspects of general practice. We hold workshops throughout the year across the country and online but also deliver bespoke workshops to practice managers at NHS organisation level. As well as providing an invaluable development opportunity, our workshops provide a vehicle for networking and sharing best practice. As practice managers, we aim to making you feel more valued, more motivated and less stressed.  PMA Workshops: Understanding Accounts, Accounting Systems & the Tax System Partnerships & Federations Employment Issues Understanding Risk & Governance Dispute Resolution Stress Management General Practice Property Management Health & Safety, Employee Engagement & Wellbeing Leadership Development Day Change Management CQC Inspection Framework Introducing Active Signposting/Care Navigation Active Signposting/Care Navigation Correspondence Management/Workflow Optimisation Leadership Development & Leading Through Change Managing Collaboration Through Change SNOMED-CT GDPR Delegates who attend the six PMA Workshops will receive an ILM certificate for Excellence in Practice Management. PMA Education We offer a range of development opportunities for Practice Managers. A new programme to further enhance skills, knowledge and understanding has been created by Cathryn Lyon, PMA Director of Education.     Staff trained in Correspondence Management & Clinical coding will read, code and action all other necessary work against a framework based on robust protocols agreed within the practice. And - in so doing - will free up GP time and improve the use of resources throughout the practice.
