About us
Preston Partnership is an ambitious community of people determined to help Preston realise its potential and positively impact its people, communities and businesses. We were formed in 2018 by a group of private-sector business leaders combining with Preston City Council and the University of Central Lancashire. The organisation has grown to include over 100 members from all sectors including property and construction firms, manufacturers, business professionals, leisure and retail and service providers, all passionate about helping Preston realise its potential. Our work was evidenced in March 2021, when a sub-committee of Preston Partnership – the Towns Fund Board – secured a £20.9 million Town Deal which will kickstart a bold and transformational £200 million development programme in Preston’s Harris Quarter. We have also played a lead role in Preston’s ambitious City Investment Plan, a 15-year strategy that will shape Preston’s future development. In 2023, we secured fresh investment through UK’s Shared Prosperity Fund to help grow the partnership’s infrastructure and events programme. OUR FOCUS Build an ambitious Preston partnership | To bring together an ambitious community of people determined to help Preston realise its potential. Shape Preston’s future | To work with local authorities and partners to generate ideas, help shape place direction and support investment opportunities. Tell Preston’s story | To work with partners to help build a positive profile for the city.

The event focused on defining the city’s economic, residential and leisure offer, including key insights from Preston Partnership’s new Economic Plan for Preston, which will be launched officially later this year. Metro Dynamics has authored the report and associate director Sarah Thompson presented the key findings, including feedback from Preston Partnership members on areas such as Preston’s key assets and emerging sectors. Following her presentation, Sarah joined a lively panel debate alongside: 🔹 Anne-Marie Huck, head of regional campaigns, BAE Systems 🔹 Peter Thomas, programme lead, Lancashire County Council 🔹 Rachel Westray, site communications partner, Westinghouse Electric Company The discussion focused on aligning Preston’s narrative with the wider Lancashire economy and harnessing the opportunities presented through developments like devolution and local government reorganisation.
