About us
Preston City Council is a district council, working alongside Lancashire County Council as part of a two-tier local government system. Preston City Council delivers quality services across the board. These include essential services such as waste collection, environmental health, parks, Preston Markets, cemetery, and crematorium. Alongside this, we continue to pursue our ambitious agenda for Preston through large scale projects such as the Harris Quarter Towns Fund Investment Programme, Harris Your Place project and other key areas of work to ensure we regenerate our city centre and beyond for the benefit of our whole community. ♻️ Citywide Recycling Push: Preston City Council, Beyondly and RECOUP join forces to Increase Recycling and Tackle Contamination. The campaign that took place during September to December 2024 saw an 11-tonne increase in plastic, glass and cans collected in 2024/25 in comparison to 2023/24. The city also recorded fewer crew-reported contaminants such as general rubbish and plastic bags in recycling bins, an encouraging sign that consistent messaging is paying off. The new Animate complex was nominated for two awards at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Regional Awards for Planning Excellence 2025, 'Excellence in Planning for a Successful Economy’ and ‘Excellence in Planning for Heritage and Culture’.
