About us

Set within 500 acres of beautiful 18th-century landscape, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a leading international centre for sculpture. YSP opened in 1977 on the grounds of the Bretton Hall estate in West Yorkshire. It was the first sculpture park in the UK and is the largest of its kind in Europe. "Probably the finest exhibition site for sculpture in the world." Bill Packer, Financial Times "In my experience, you get things from visiting these 500 acres of rolling rural north that are rarely available at other art locations." Waldemar Januszczak, The Sunday Times "A great way to combine culture, exercise and fresh air for all the family." The People

  • Hospital Rooms is currently undertaking an ambitious three-year project, bringing world-class contemporary art into NHS mental health settings across the country in partnership with arts organisations including YSP. As part of this nationwide initiative, they're working in Yorkshire at Fieldhead Hospital in Wakefield and Kendray Hospital in Barnsley, alongside 15 incredible artists. A core element of the project is a programme of workshops, which allows patients and staff to engage directly with the creative process. Artist Simeon Barclay, one of the artists involved in this project, recently led a workshop at YSP and had the opportunity to see his sculpture, Pittu Pithu Pitoo, displayed in the Park for the first time. ✨ Science, Creativity & Inclusion at Yorkshire Sculpture Park! ✨ The LimbBo Foundation, a Yorkshire-based charity supporting children with limb differences, recently hosted an inspiring event at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) for #BritishScienceWeek. Bringing together Amazelab, British Glass, and YSP artists Dr Puy Soden and Nat Bellingham, the event explored this year’s theme—"Adapt and Change"—through the transformational qualities of glass. Families experimented with bottles, jars, and ballotini, donated by Glass Technology Services and Yorkshire-based members of British Glass, to create sound jars, experiment with refraction, and even trying sand casting! Leonie Briggs, AmazeLab Director, said: "Workshops like this help promote inclusivity and creativity, making science accessible to everyone." Victoria Adams, Marketing Manager at British Glass, added: "It was wonderful to see children leading their own creative journeys in this multisensory workshop." As Jane Hewitt, LimbBo Foundation, shared: "Bringing families together in a safe space and allowing them to be creative in their own way is priceless." A huge thank you to all involved in this fantastic celebration of science, art, and community!
