#NAWIC Victoria recently launched the second edition of the highly successful Public Speaking Workshop sponsored by MBM PL, with ten talented female graduates, undergraduates, and emerging talent attending the event on 22 July. This was a fantastic opportunity, endorsed by CPB Contractors’ Vic & Tas General Manager, Scott Knight, to support our emerging talent in enhancing their skills, crafting an engaging delivery, and build confidence, which are essential foundations for progression into leadership roles. This initiative aligns with CPB Contractors’ Gender Equality Action Plan and forms part of our Vic & Tas Women in Construction (WIC) initiatives. “By supporting initiatives like this, we aim to strategically bridge the leadership succession gap by fostering a diverse leadership pipeline and driving future organisational success,” says Sharon Gray, Group Manager, Indigenous and Social Inclusion. “The workshop was fantastic!’ says Rachel Kelly, Sustainability Graduate, Eastern Freeway TSA. “Thanks to the keynote speaker, Tracey Leslie. Her passion for advocating for women in STEM and women in engineering was truly inspiring, alongside her journey of getting into coaching.” #CPBinConstruction #CPBtogether

As demand for renewable energy grows at an unprecedented pace there is an urgent need to attract and retain a resilient and sustainable workforce.♻️🔋 As leading contractors, we have been employing and training workforces in regional locations for decades, with the number one priority to protect their health and safety, including their mental health and wellbeing. CPB Contractors’ EGM for People and Culture, Sarah O'Neill joined a panel of experts yesterday at the Clean Energy Council annual Australian Clean Energy Summit to share some of the industry-leading training programs, partnerships and safety management processes in place across our projects. 🤝🚧 “As employers of tens of thousands of workers across our projects and supply chain, we are incredibly focused on driving a safe, inclusive and positive culture for everyone, and that means creating a work environment where everyone feels safe to speak up and check in on their mates. As we turn our focus to mobilising workforces in regional areas, away from their families, friends and homes, this focus is even more paramount.” #CPBinConstruction #CPBtogether

Australian-first paving is a runway success on Western Sydney International Airport (WSI)! ✈️ WSI Airside, Civil and Pavement project was the first paving project for CPB Contractors Project Manager, Hassan Ghonaim ( Hassan Hassan ). Together with Superintendent, Paul Hamilton, he developed an Australian-first slip-form methodology for Aircraft Pavement, which has become a game-changer, setting a new standard for safety and productivity for WSI, CPB Contractors and for future runway projects in Australia. The ’slip-form’ method paves the aircraft pavement without the use of the traditional dual steel forms. To achieve this, the team modified the concrete mix, ensuring total consistency by using CPB Contractors’ batch plant on site. “We conducted multiple successful trials, providing a precise, consistent, and high-quality surface finish. This method has now been carried forward to The Cargo Precinct project and will be transformational for future aviation projects,” says Hassan. 👏 Pictured: Hassan, and Hassan with Paul. We’ve partnered with CIMIC Group Limited's IDD Tech Pty Ltd Tech team to bring its in-house designed and developed ToBe Builder to life at Clean Energy Council’s annual Australian Clean Energy Summit (ACES) this week. Using TobeXR technology, we’re giving visitors the opportunity to interact with a live 4D construction of a wind turbine. Jason Pearson said, “ToBe Builder will be transformational in improving how we collaborate with developers, contractors and other key stakeholders, particularly in the early and feasibility stages of a project. By visually constructing potential projects early on in the digital space, we will be able to work together to identify, communicate and address common challenges, such as access roads, agricultural impacts and buffer zones, providing a clearer pathway to achieving project approvals and ultimately setting everyone up for a more successful and efficient construction program.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gEbNBBJd https://bit.ly/3IQcHMX

On track for completion this year, the #new West Gate Tunnel will take 9,000 trucks off local roads every day.🛻 Underground crews have now installed over 60% of tunnel safety and traffic management systems, while construction of the new bridge and two ramps across the Maribyrnong River is now nearing completion.💪 CPB Contractors is working with #Transurban on the project in a 50:50 joint venture with John Holland, to deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, providing quicker and safer journeys, and removing thousands of trucks from residential streets. “When the West Gate Tunnel opens this year, it will give motorists a clear choice when travelling across Melbourne’s west – the tunnel or the bridge,” says Premier Jacinta Allan, who visited the site this month. It’s all eyes on Clarinda in Victoria, as major construction is well underway on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL), with works full steam ahead to build a massive tunnel boring machine (TBM) launch site, where tunnelling will start next year.🔦 Four TBMs will be launched from Clarinda, with two digging towards Glen Waverley, and two towards Cheltenham, and will arrive on site later this year before carving out the southern section of the SRL East tunnels. In total, each TBM will take about 3 months to assemble and will travel up to 90m a week! SRL will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. SRL East is the first stage of the project being delivered, with trains running from 2035. 👏 Suburban Rail Loop Authority https://bit.ly/3IHgagS #CPBinConstruction #CPBtogether

A major milestone has been achieved on Sydney Metro’s Eastern Tunnelling Package, with the successful breakthrough of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), Jessie and Ruby, into Sydney Metro’s Pyrmont Station! This exciting breakthrough is a major milestone in the work to construct twin 3.5-kilometre tunnels under Sydney Harbour between The Bays and Sydney CBD, and the excavation of Pyrmont and Hunter Street stations in our joint venture with #JohnHolland and Ghella for the Eastern Tunnelling Package (ETP). Roadheaders first excavated approximately 1.2 metres of rock at the tunnel face from inside the cavern, allowing the TBMs to complete the final 300mm of tunnelling in a safe and controlled breakthrough sequence. A total of 312,000 tonnes of material will be excavated to create the station cavern and crossover cavern at Pyrmont, with more than 180,000 tonnes of material already excavated. ETP is aiming to reuse 100% of the clean excavated material from tunnelling on projects underway around Sydney. #CPBtogether #CPBinConstruction

Western Sydney International Airport’s runway success is fuelled by teamwork!👌 CPB Contractors Project Director Christian Byrne has instilled a culture of teamwork across the five projects he has worked on at Sydney’s Western Sydney International Airport (WSI). Celebrating the official completion of the Airside, Civil and Pavement project, where more than 2.8 million hours have been worked, Christian says the people and team culture instilled at WSI and the depth of experience and capability throughout CPB Contractors are key to its success. “We don’t just have one big team at WSI, we’ve got a team of teams, and each of those teams are required to coordinate and interface, working together, all aligned in the common goal to succeed. This mentality was instilled in our Project Managers and Superintendents – we either succeed together or we all fail. When the wider staff see the senior leaders behaving in those ways, everyone buys into it. This culture is a big part of what drives our overall performance, particularly for our safety performance here at WSI.” ✨ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gtSTBWVf #CPBtogether #CPBinConstruction
