  • Huge things are happening underground: tunnelling for the landmark Sydney Metro West project is nearly 90% complete! Tunnel boring machines (TBMs) Dorothy and Betty have reached the last stop before the finish line on their tunnelling journey, working around the clock to finish the seven-kilometre tunnels from Sydney Olympic Park to Parramatta. The TBMs are expected to complete the section of tunnel to Westmead by the end of the year. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gkMYRwDn

  • Tunnel boring machines (TBMs) Jessie and Ruby have completed another leg of their tunnelling journey, breaking through at Pyrmont metro station! The 1,100-tonne machines broke through within five hours of each other, crushing through solid rock 24 metres below ground to arrive at the Pyrmont station cavern in the second double breakthrough for the Sydney Metro West project. TBMs Jessie and Ruby have just over one kilometre of tunnelling remaining under Darling Harbour to Hunter Street in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.  Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gGy86zfA

  • It is hard to miss, but in case you haven’t spotted the new Sydney Metro West stabling and maintenance facility in Clyde, here’s a peek at its progress from the sky! With a huge 380,000 square metre footprint, equivalent in size to almost 94 football fields, the facility will be the beating heart of Metro West operations and home to a new operations control centre, a train workshop and a yard where the metro trains will be stabled, cleaned and maintained once operational. Recent work at the site has seen construction of two bridge structures over A’Beckett’s Creek and Duck Creek, and earthworks to create an entirely even surface, ready for the tracks in the stabling yard to be laid.
