About us
Culture Liverpool are the team behind the major events programme in Liverpool as well as the city's cultural and arts offer including the Liverpool Film Office, City Halls portfolio (St George's Hall, Liverpool Town Hall and Croxteth Hall), the Liverpool Cruise Terminal. We work closely with the arts and cultural organisations of the Liverpool City Region to support community based arts and cultural programmes as well as large scale cultural events like the Giant Spectacular, River of Light, Mersey River Festival and Liverpool International Music Festival to name a few. We are also the team responsible for the UNESCO City of Music programme.

Today, I was incredibly proud to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Edge Hill University. I don’t think I realised how proud I was until I thought about what I wanted to say and tried to write it all down. In conclusion: it’s never been boring! Reflecting on how much the city has changed and the potential that Liverpool and the wider region now holds is actually quite emotional. Thank you to Edge Hill University for making me a Doctor (don’t worry, I promise never to try and actually practise as one!). It means so much that I was nominated by Lana Orr. I first met Lana when she was an incredible young politician working alongside the brilliant Wendy Simon. Lana’s gone on to change the lives of so many young people. Thank you for recognising the intent - the spirit of ideas, teamwork and stories that I’ve always tried to put first. And always, that there’s more to come. So here’s to my brilliant, beautiful team. Here’s to being a proud public servant. Here’s to every politician or boss who’s said “yes.” Liverpool’s story is one where culture has been at the heart - and it's not done yet, it feels like the start.
