Newcastle is a multi-award winning Airport and claimed the top accolade of 'Best in the World' at the 2024 Routes World Conference. The Airport welcomed 5.2 million passengers in 2024 and provides vital connectivity for the North East region to the world. Thanks to its strong portfolio of 16 airline partners, passengers can choose from over 80 direct destinations and more than 300 onward connections worldwide. The Airport contributes more than £1bn in GVA annually to the regional economy and around 3,200 people are employed on the Airport site. More than 17,000 jobs are supported through the business’ supply chain. It is proud to provide an exceptional passenger experience; 99% of passengers pass through security in under 10 minutes, the service provided to passengers with disabilities is one of the best in the UK and in 2023 the Airport ranked in the top 3 in the UK for on-time performance. The Airport is committed to becoming Net Zero by the year 2035 and has been named as a 'sustainability sector leader'. The business has its own solar farm that can provide 100% of its electricity on a sunny day and it is making significant investments to transition its vehicle fleet to electric models. Over recent years more than 46,000 trees have been planted on Airport-owned land to support its carbon offset activities and enhance biodiversity. In 2025, the Airport will celebrate its 90th anniversary.

Our amazing charity partner True Colours Theatre brought joy to our building yesterday with their incredible singing and signing performance for our passengers. Seeing everyone's faces light up during the show was magical. Thank you True Colours Theatre, for helping make our milestone celebration so memorable! 💜

Preserving memories for the future! 🕰️✈️ A huge thank you to the Ponteland Beavers for helping us bury a time capsule to celebrate our 90th anniversary. The capsule was packed with photos, holiday brochures, our 2040 Masterplan, a cocktail menu from Aster & Thyme and much more. The children also contributed letters about their hopes for the future, along with badges, certificates and other memorabilia. Flying with Pride 🌈✈️ We were proud to take part in Northern Pride last Saturday, marching in full colour and high spirits rain or shine. The parade was a vibrant celebration of inclusion, identity, and community, and it was an honour to stand alongside other local organisations in support of a more welcoming and inclusive Airport for all.
