Updates

  • We were honoured to have Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire and Katie White OBE MP for Leeds North West officially open our brand-new terminal extension recently. We are absolutely delighted to be able to celebrate this milestone with colleagues and business partners as it marks the end of the first phase of our ongoing £100 million terminal expansion and refurbishment project. We were joined by representatives from Leeds City Council, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Emerald Airlines, Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Farrans Construction, the CBI and West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce to name a few who were able to enjoy a tour of the new facilities with members of our senior leadership team. #LBAREGEN

Not used to a 4am alarm anymore, but this morning it was more than worth it to welcome Martin Mansell and his team onto the runway to start the Yorkshire Beast cycling challenge to Nice in Southern France. Martin approached me with the idea back in February, and when he told me the money raised would be for the fantastic Candlelighters based in Yorkshire, alongside The Alzheimer's Society, we had to do everything we could to make the start special! More info can be found here - https://yorkshirebeast.com As Martin starts his long journey, I have a comparatively short hop to London to speak at the BTA Aviation conference on the day Leeds Bradford Airport opens Phase 1 of LBA:ReGen, really excited to speak about this fantastic project and the benefits it will bring to our Business Travel Community.

  • Wishing all those celebrating a blessed Eid ul Adha. Eid ul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar. It marks the end of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, and commemorates the spirit of selflessness, reflection, and community. The day is often observed by spending time with family and friends, sharing food, and giving to those in need. It’s also a time to pause and reflect on gratitude and compassion, values that resonate beyond religious boundaries. To all our colleagues celebrating, we’d like to wish you and your loved ones a joyful and blessed Eid ul Adha. May this special time bring peace, happiness, and togetherness as you mark this important occasion. Eid Mubarak!

  • Vincent Hodder, CEO, Leeds Bradford Airport said: “We are delighted to support the mayors of West, South and North Yorkshire on their plan to transform the railway infrastructure in our region. "From speaking to our partners, customers and community, we know that a sustainable, accessible and affordable rail link to Leeds Bradford Airport is a top priority for them and can unlock future growth and investment. "We want to do everything we can to deliver Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway Station and deliver on Leeds Bradford Airport’s mission to be an outstanding airport, connecting Yorkshire to the world.” 🌍 Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith Oliver Coppard, Mayor of South Yorkshire

A lack of investment stretching back decades has left Yorkshire with a rail network that’s no longer fit for purpose.   Today, Lord Blunkett has set out our phased plan to fix our broken railways and deliver for passengers.   Because we owe it to everyone to secure our fair share of funding, so the region’s train services are suitable for the modern age, getting passengers to where they need to go, when they want to go   Find out more about the plan: https://lnkd.in/gaAEEh_K

  • Our CEO Vincent Hodder and Programme Director Steve Hudson welcomed James Burke, Managing Director and Co-Head of InfraBridge to our LBA:REGEN site last week to walk him through the project’s progress in preparation for opening next month.   LBA is one of three UK airports under the ownership of InfraBridge which seeks high-quality opportunities in strategic locations with significant growth potential, staying at the forefront of industry trends.   James Burke commented: “Once the new terminal extension opens, the current terminal will undergo a full refurbishment. This combination will completely transform the customer journey at LBA. This is an exciting prospect for the millions of passengers who choose to travel through LBA every year.”   Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eQUNKNSj
