Our #GoodChildhoodReport highlights a worrying trend: girls' wellbeing continues to decline. To explore this finding, we hosted an insightful workshop with the The University of Manchester, expertly chaired by Chloe Laws, exploring the issues impacting girls’ wellbeing. With stakeholders from across the sector and Government, we unpacked the pressures girls face today and how we can better support them. Collaboration and compassion is key to reversing this trend. We look forward to continuing to work with partners to find solutions to this growing challenge ⭐ #GirlsWellbeing #GirlsMentalHeath #Collaboration

31% of young people have had a traumatic experience during childhood. Trauma is an emotional response caused by distressing events, which can disrupt normal day-to-day life and impact mental health in the long-term. Everyone reacts to trauma differently, and there is no right or wrong way to respond. Our blog talks through different types of trauma responses in young people and what may help: https://lnkd.in/erD-5qCe

The Children’s Society is proud to engage young people at the highest level of our work since 2000 💫 Today, we celebrated our 25-year commitment to have Young Trustees on our Board, ensuring young people are part of every key strategic decision that we take. One Young Trustee, aged 23, said: “Having the young trustees is a constant reminder that this is what we are fighting for.” Another, aged 18, said: “It also allows The Children’s Society to be confident their work is centred around what young people need the most”. Thank you to the young people who give up their time to help improve our vital work 🧡 #YoungTrustee #YouthRepresentation #YouthWork

"It’s so important that we reframe child financial exploitation as a child protection issue, not a prosecution issue" Watch our Director of Young People's Services, Nick Cook, discuss the often hidden harm of financial exploitation and exploitative money laundering on Channel 4 News: https://lnkd.in/esZ9x4H7

Our Chief Executive, Mark Russell, endorsing the news that the voting age in the UK is due to be lowered to 16. "Young people have a voice – and now they’ll finally have a vote. We strongly welcome plans to lower the voting age, giving 1.5 million more young people a say in shaping the future. This is a landmark step in recognising that young people care deeply about the issues facing our country and deserve to be heard not just at the ballot box, but throughout the political process." https://lnkd.in/gsgm-nTV

This is what teenagers told us about the dangers of child financial exploitation 👇👇👇 Our latest report captures the voices of 126 young people who shared how scams, coercion and criminal pressure are becoming part of everyday life – often before adults even notice. Almost all of them had come across scams online on popular social media sites. Many won’t realise they are being exploited until it’s too late. We must do better. Young people are asking for earlier, clearer education and support before harm is done. Before it gets too late. Our national prevention programme works with thousands of professionals to make that happen and this report is a vital step forward. Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eQqMPR3K
