📢 New service starting Sunday 3rd August 📢 In partnership with Birmingham Airport we're pleased to announce the launch of our new 17A bus service this Sunday, improving sustainable transport options for those travelling to and from the airport and the NEC for holidays and events, and for the many colleagues who work at both major sites. With journeys up to every 30 minutes, our 17A bus service offers a convenient and cost-effective alternative to driving, helping people across central and east Birmingham save on expensive fuel, airport drop-off or parking costs, while helping to reduce traffic and drive down harmful emissions on our region’s roads. 🗞 Read more in the Birmingham Live article, link in comments

Birmingham Airport (BHX) is preparing for its busiest summer ever. Birmingham Airport (BHX) has unveiled its latest terminal investment with the opening of extended boarding gate lounges. The new and improved Gates 58 to 60 have been re-developed, improving boarding experience through better layout design that will also support airlines with on-time departures. ✈️ The modern boarding lounges, constructed in partnership with VINCI Building UK , feature new flooring, brighter energy-efficient lighting and sleek balustrades designed to open up the space and enhance the overall appearance of the boarding spaces. Did you know that care leavers are four times more likely to be unemployed? 📑 Here at Birmingham Airport, we want to help change that! Last month, we hosted six care leavers aged 18 to 25 for a two-week work experience placement, providing them with a valuable insight into careers in the aviation industry. 🙏 Led by the West Midlands Employer Alliance, the Midlands-wide initiative saw over 20 care experienced young adults undertaking work experience placements at seven local organisations including Kier Construction, Severn Trent, The NEC, Birmingham, Novotel Hotels and E.ON. 🌐 With their unique barriers in view, we curated a tailored work experience programme to equip our cohort with valuable professional skills required for a successful career! 💡 Highlights of the programme included: ✈️ A guided tour of an Airbus A-380 🗺️ A session with the airport’s Air Traffic Control team 📝 A workshop on how to draft the perfect CV 🎤 A behind the scenes tour of the NEC 💬Reflecting on his placement, Marcus Rees said: “After several bad experiences in previous jobs, I was pleased to spend time in such a supportive and welcoming workplace environment. I’m excited to see what the future holds, and I look forward to continuing to develop with the support of my mentor.” We wish all of our young care leavers the very best of luck for the future and thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment across their placement! 🫶 Additional thanks to our wonderful partner organisations at the West Midlands Employer Alliance for all of their ongoing support. 💙

Birmingham Airport (BHX) has kickstarted the summer season with its busiest June ever. Latest figures issued by BHX reveal that a record 1,360,957 passengers travelled through the airport in the month of June. ☀️✈️ The figure was bolstered by the beginning of the summer season, as well as the introduction of new and returning summer routes to destinations including Gibraltar, Poros and Samos. 🌍 Read more here: https://orlo.uk/Nko1v

Colleagues from Birmingham Airport and other local organisations joined forces this month to raise funds for our nominated charity partner, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, by taking the plunge with a sponsored abseil challenge. 🎈 The thrilling event featured: 👥 115 brave participants 🤝 11 participating organisations from around our BHX Campus and beyond 🧗♀️ An adrenaline-pumping 104ft abseil off our main headquarters office building 🫶 942 generous donators 💰As a collective, we raised an incredible £32,668 which will help support the hospital in providing vital care for sick children in our region.
