Manchester Airports Group is the largest UK airport operator for Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands Airports.
About us
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is the UK’s largest airports group. Collectively, MAG owns and operates three UK airports – Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands – alongside digital travel services business, CAVU. Last year 54m passengers flew through our airports, and we contributed more than £8bn to the UK economy. MAG directly employs 7,000 people and supports more than 40,000 jobs across the supply chain. We understand airports and air travel better than anyone. Our impact spans the length of the UK, with around 70% of the population living within a two-hour journey of a MAG airport. By working with a wide range of airlines to forge long-term partnerships that maximise the choice and value available to passengers, we have grown a large route network that connects people and businesses to the globe. Looking ahead, we are ambitious and focused on making the future of travel better. We are investing in our airports to launch new routes, and give our passengers the best experience. In CAVU, we are using MAG’s decades of aviation experience and industry-leading consumer insights to revolutionise airport travel. And, running through everything we do, we are working confidently towards a sustainable future and achieving net zero for aviation by 2050.

Today, we reached a major milestone for our £1.3bn Manchester Airport Transformation Programme with the official opening of the new Terminal 2 Departures East area. Passengers are now able to enjoy six new retail offerings, including Rituals, Starbucks, LEGO, Pandora, Upper Crust and Joe & the Juice. Plus, World Duty Free Express is set to open next week, adding even more choice for travellers. The new space also features even more seating and stunning views of the airfield. A dedicated Assisted Travel area is set to open in September, further improving the overall customer experience. Thank you to the teams who made this milestone possible. MAG welcomes the Government’s funding announcement today which will support the widespread production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the UK and help the aviation industry reach its target of net zero by 2050. MAG Chief Sustainability Officer Neil Robinson said: “I am pleased to see £4.5m of investment awarded to Essar and NorthPointe Energy, that will see airlines using Manchester Airport have direct access to SAF via the existing pipeline to the Stanlow production site. “This funding, together with the UK SAF Mandate and Parliament’s support a Revenue Certainty Mechanism, play an important role in the creation of a domestic SAF industry which will support the creation of thousands of new green jobs and secure a future of sustainable flying.”
Seventeen UK companies have won a share of £63 million to accelerate sustainable aviation fuel production, supporting around 1,400 jobs and positioning the UK as a global leader in clean aviation. This investment brings the total Advanced Fuels Fund commitment to £198 million. With sustainable aviation fuel reducing emissions by up to 70% over its lifecycle, we're not just aiming to create cleaner flights, but kickstarting economic growth and delivering on our Plan for Change to make Britain a clean energy superpower. #SustainableAviation #CleanEnergy OXCCU TECH LTD LanzaJet

MAG is proud that representatives from all three of its airports were part of the Government's Task and Finish Group that worked towards these important recommendations. We welcome any moves that help to make air travel easier and more accessible for disabled people. We were pleased to help shape these improvements, sharing best practice across our airports. Our assisted travel services provide one-to-one support for hundreds of thousands of passengers who need it every year on their journey through the airport and onto aircraft. We develop our assisted travel services by listening to and collaborating with people with lived experience of disability and are committed to ensuring we meet and exceed these new guidelines as we continually seek to improve the airport experience for all our passengers.

MAG welcomes the publication of the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy earlier this week, which sets out its plan for economic prosperity. The key sectors identified in it, from professional and business services to the creative industries, all rely on strong global connectivity to reach their full potential. Research conducted by MAG in partnership with WPI Economics showed that these sectors are projected to grow more quickly than the rest of the economy over the next ten years – demonstrating the importance of aviation as an enabler of growth and to the UK’s prospects as a services superpower. MAG CEO Ken O’Toole shared his views last year on how as an island trading nation, the UK is more reliant on air routes than other major economies and therefore how a strong aviation industry should sit at the heart of the Government’s plans for economic growth.
