𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 👋✨🎓 Today we’re showcasing Charlie Holtom apprenticeship journey, which began just over two years ago. Charlie came out of school not wanting to go to university but still wanted to continue to learn whilst also working, so an apprenticeship was the perfect choice. His growth in confidence and willingness to learn new skills is admirable, and this has continued since completing his apprenticeship too. ⬇️Take a look at Charlie’s apprenticeship journey below. 💭Are you interested in a career or apprenticeship at Grundon? About us
Grundon Waste Management is the largest family owned waste management company in the UK, offering a total waste management service including general waste, recycling, hazardous, clinical and confidential wastes along with aggregate supplies. Through our own network of facilities, we are able to offer an excellent service coupled with state of the art facilities to help our customers meet all of their environmental and service requirements, which helps them focus on their own core activities. As a leading supplier of integrated waste management solutions, Grundon was quick to recognise the significance of Energy from Waste technology, both as an alternative to diminishing landfill void and as a sustainable option for energy recovery. Our Energy from Waste facility compliments Grundon's existing Material Recovery facilities for recycling, offering the Best Practical Environmental Option (BPEO) for minimisation and treatment of residual waste. The benefits for our customers are high diversion from landfill rates, increased environmental credentials and protection from future Landfill Tax increases. The company operates an Integrated Management System that is accredited by BSI and meets the requirements of PAS99:2012, encompassing quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001) and health and safety (OHSAS 18001).

2024 marked our 38th year, working with Silverstone as their waste and recycling partner. 🏁During the 2024 Formula One British Grand Prix, our team work on site 24/7 prioritising waste opportunities that fuel a successful event. At that specific event, we saw: 📈12% increase in recycling rate 👨👩👧👦Over 100 bin stations in high footfall areas 🚮Over 3,350 colour-coded bins & 80 large containers/compactors We also sent non-recyclable waste to our Energy from Waste facility which: 🔌Produced 166.6MWH of power 🌲Saved 213.3 tonnes of CO2e – the equivalent to saving 829 trees! We work closely with our customers to find innovations to better manage their waste and increase recycling opportunities and always strive to deliver absolute excellence. ➡️Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/eVUbefBR

𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 🌱 We’ve recently provided a £14,000 grant to Three Rivers District Council to restore Bury Grounds, a local haven attracting residents of Rickmansworth and wildlife friends too. Cllr Chris Lloyd, Three Rivers District Council’s Lead Member for Leisure, said: “Grundon’s funding helped pay for an ongoing tree management programme, which includes the preservation of many historic trees, including the magnolia walk, cedars, oaks and mulberry trees. “We have also been clearing a lot of the brambles and overgrown areas and planting new trees. It’s about making sure the area is more accessible for visitors, while also being sensitive to both wildlife and the fact this is a heritage area. “I have enjoyed walking and running through the Bury Grounds for many years and it is looking the best it has done in decades.” ➡️Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/e_D-5T9X

𝐈𝐋𝐆 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐨-𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐔𝐊 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 🌱 Since ILG (International Logistics Group Ltd) introduced Grundon’s food waste collection service across its 10 UK facilities back in February, they have already recycled over 2,216 kg of food waste! By adopting a dedicated food waste service, ILG is: ✅Complying with the recent Simpler Recycling legislation 💡 Ensuring its food waste is recycled, into nutrient-rich bio-fertiliser and energy By having frequent collections and multiple food containers across all their sites, including internal caddies, ILG are showcasing their efforts to dispose of food waste as sustainably as they can, and it is certainly paying off. 👏 Liam Nelmes has worked closely with ILG to create this food waste recycling success and says: “ILG’s overall recycling rates are amazing and are testament to their ethos and the passion of the whole team to get waste management right. “The company’s continued growth brings an ever-increasing variety of materials to deal with and so we are constantly looking at new ways to recycle or reprocess, as we have done with waste streams such as food and soft polythene. “We work really closely together and I look forward to continuing to push the recycling figures even higher as we look to achieve even greater success.” ➡️To read more, click here: https://lnkd.in/e5Wb2-NZ

𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 👥 We recently provided £15,000 funding towards Shedquarters, a Men’s Shed located near Reading, designed to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst the older generation. Shedquarters is open five days a week and provides individuals the opportunity and environment to gain new skills, share their expertise and make new friends. Tasks include utilising their woodworking skills to make birdboxes, picnic benches and wooden planters, to learning about stained glass and clock repairing. Sheila Maughan, Chair & Trustee of Shedquarters said: “Grundon was our largest donor and we are very grateful to them for their support. We have about 38 regular attendees, as well as others who drop in from time-to-time and they tell us that the companionship Shedquarters offers is really important to them. It is an opportunity to get out of their four walls, to learn something new and share their skills with others.” ➡️Continue reading here: https://lnkd.in/euga8S_h

𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 At Grundon, we’re always looking for new innovations to enhance our operations and drive sustainability. So when we introduced the ZenRobotics - A Terex Brand AI-powered Fast Picker at our Materials Recovery Facility near Cheltenham in 2022, it was exciting to see what AI could do in the world of waste and recycling. The robotic system was introduced to enhance the plastic waste sorting process by targeting and extracting higher value materials. 🤖 The result? 👍Greater efficiency 🙅♂️Less contamination ♻️Higher-quality recycled materials Click here to find out more and see the robot in action: https://lnkd.in/efMi_pJf

𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬🤝 In 2024, we began a new day release work experience and training programme for prisoners at HM Prison Ford, in West Sussex through the Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) scheme and have since also expanded our existing partnership with HM Prison Huntercombe in Oxfordshire. By providing second chances and supporting rehabilitation we have helped numerous individuals secure stable employment upon release and contributed to reducing re-offending rates and promoting community safety.
