We visited Kershaw Day Support Centre in Newton-le-Willows recently as they held their summer coffee afternoon. The event saw service users, their families and carers all come together for an afternoon of laughter and tasty treats. We chatted to some of Kershaw's lovely service users and staff about why they love the centre so much. #WithYouForYou #LoveStHelens

🎲 Care leavers in St Helens Borough recently enjoyed an afternoon of fun and connection — all thanks to a brilliant idea from care-experienced young person, Beth! Beth, who fondly remembers playing games as a child, suggested hosting a games event — and the community delivered! Kind donations from local businesses helped fund equipment like darts, axe throwing, a golf putting challenge, plus classic board games and more. 🎯🏌️♂️♟️ This event is just one example of how we’re creating meaningful, positive experiences for our young people — a commitment that’s been recognised by Ofsted, who rated us Outstanding for the experiences and progress of care leavers. 🌟

The community are encouraged to join in a three minute silence at 3pm today in honour of Alice, Bebe and Elsie as the borough joins with its neighbours in Southport, one year on from their tragic deaths. Council Leader Councillor Anthony Burns, said: “Our thoughts on this day go to the families and friends of Alice, Bebe and Elsie alongside all those affected one year on from this heartbreaking incident. Across St Helens Borough I’m sure that many people will be paying their respects today as we pause for three minutes at 3pm to remember the girls and those still living with the impact of that day. “As a region we will always be stronger working together. This is a time to reflect on the strength our communities show in times of tragedy, our powerful bonds that hold us together and the support we show for one another in the face of adversity. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbours in Southport today, and every day against hate and division.” St Helens Town Hall flag is also flying at half mast today as the borough remembers them.

#BREAKING | Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region has revealed plans to create a ‘Soft Power’ Board to harness Liverpool’s world-famous brand. In an increasingly inward-looking world, the board will promote the city region’s ‘superpower’ values of innovation, creativity, resilience, tolerance and warmth to drive prosperity. It will seek to boost foreign direct investment and strengthen trade relationships by leveraging the region’s internationally significant assets in education, research, innovation, business, tourism, major events and culture - including music, heritage and sport.
