About us
Construction Youth Trust is a forward-thinking charity whose mission is to help young people reach their full potential and take their first steps towards a rewarding working life. Working alongside our industry partners, we identify real pathways into employment for young people and prepare them for the world of work. We support young people to build their skills and confidence and connect them with opportunities and employers aligned with their abilities and interests. Social mobility is at the heart of our work and we prioritise supporting those young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, under-represented groups and those facing significant barriers to employment. We help young people recognise their potential and discover opportunities that have never previously been presented to them.

Ramazan’s Journey into Construction through Inspiring Work Experience 💡 🛠️ At 15 years old, Ramazan from Kensington and Chelsea felt uncertain about his future prospects while studying for his GCSE exams. Thanks to our fantastic relationship with Lords Builders Merchants, a builders’ merchants and trusted employer partner, we were able to set up an engaging work experience placement for Ramazan which left a lasting impression on him. During the placement, Ramazan was trained to work on the trade counter, manage stock control, and update the computer system. He was also given insight into marketing, purchasing and finance from a merchanting perspective, giving him an experiential taste of different pathways in the industry. The experience gave Ramazan greater clarity about his career goals and worked wonders for his confidence! To read more, visit our website here 👉 http://bit.ly/44YJ6bz A huge thank you to Lords Builders Merchants for hosting Ramazan’s placement. We’d also like to thank Garfield Weston Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund for your long-term support of our work in Kensington and Chelsea– your funding allows us to support local young people like Ramazan through inspiring career experiences such as this one! #BuildingOpportunities #InspiringTheNextGeneration

🚀 Level Up! Inspiring the Next Generation with B&CE Charitable Trust ✨ We are so grateful to B&CE Charitable Trust for your fantastic support of our Pathways to Professional Careers programme! Your partnership is helping us to work as a real engine for social mobility, supporting underrepresented young people to access rewarding, professional career pathways in the built environment sector. 🏘️ As part of the programme, we recently delivered an engaging CV workshop for Year 12 students in Southwark. With the support of nine fantastic volunteers, each student received one-on-one support to develop their CVs, refining their tools for the workplace and becoming inspired by industry professionals about potential career routes. A special shout-out to Faye Sewell, representing the Charitable Trust, who engaged in a productive and energetic conversation with a young person about their career aspirations. We’re thrilled you were able to support the session and have such a meaningful encounter! We are so excited to continue supporting these young people on their journeys through to a successful, well-informed transition when they finish school. Our partnership with the Charitable Trust will continue to play a huge part in our success and we can’t wait to continue levelling up our impact through the programme. 📈 #InspiringTheNextGeneration #SocialMobility

We’re delighted to be partnered with Goodman who are supporting the long-term development of our work in Haringey, which helps disadvantaged young people to access rewarding career opportunities in the local built environment sector. We recently welcomed our friends at Goodman to experience a workplace visit for 12 local college students, all of whom are working towards their Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification. Kindly hosted by Midgard Ltd, the activity gave these young people a chance to explore the Tottenham Hale Towers site in Haringey, giving them an inspiring, real-world taste of a career in electricals and helping them to visualise a next step after college. 💡 Thanks to the ongoing support of Goodman, we’re able to deliver impactful sessions like these, helping young people in Haringey take confident steps towards brighter career pathways and realising their full potential. #InspiringTheNextGeneration #EmpoweringYoungPeople #SocialMobility
We joined Construction Youth Trust and students from Haringey’s Capital City College on a recent site visit, as they study for their Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification. Hosted by Midgard Ltd at the Tottenham Hale Towers development – a large-scale regeneration project in north London – site visits like these are a great way of giving young people an opportunity to learn more about the steps available to them after college. This is just one of the dedicated coaching programmes the Goodman Foundation is supporting Construction Youth Trust to deliver, providing insights into live construction projects alongside practical skills training. Budding Bricklayers gain hands-on experience with GSQ Brickwork! 🧱 As part of our Building Opportunities programme, 10 young people (aged 15–16) from Barking & Dagenham joined us at the BRIC training centre for an action-packed day with GSQ BRICKWORK LIMITED. The students rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into the world of bricklaying - each building part of their own training wall and even tackling some brick-themed maths challenges! 🧠 They also had the chance to chat with the team at GSQ, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of careers in the construction industry. A huge thank you to GSQ BRICKWORK LIMITED and Clare Coombe (Barking Riverside Limited) for hosting and running the session, and to London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for coming along to see the young people in action. Educational Engagement Spotlight: Inspiring the Next Generation 👷💡 🙌 This month, we delivered our Building Future Skills programme at Palestra House in partnership with Places for London (Transport for London’s property company), as part of their Educational Engagement Programme. Over three days, 31 young people took part in activities designed to develop their employability skills and introduce them to careers in the built environment sector. 🔹 Day 1 included a site tour of 10 King William Street — an over-station development at Bank (a joint venture between Helical plc and Places for London) — followed by a networking session with professionals from roles such as Associate Director, Construction Skills Manager, and Head of Sustainability. 🔹 Day 2 featured an Apprentice Q&A, giving participants a chance to hear directly from current apprentices. They then worked in teams on a project brief to create a tender for an over-station development, taking on roles like Architect, Structural Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, and Project Manager. 🔹 Day 3 concluded with mock interviews and final project presentations to a panel of judges from Grainger PLC, The Skills Centre, and Transport for London. A huge thank you to Places for London and their joint development partners – Barratt London, The Earls Court Development Company, Fastned, Grainger PLC, and Helical plc – for their collaboration and continued support, which are vital to the success of our Educational Engagement Programme. With special thanks also to McLaren Construction Group and The Skills Centre for generously volunteering your time and expertise. Your support was instrumental in inspiring young people to pursue careers in the built environment sector! #BuildingFutureSkills #EducationalEngagementProgramme #CareersInConstruction

🚀 Paviors Building Future Skills Programme: Empowering the Next Generation of Young Talent! 👷♂️ We invited 27 students from across our Hubs to attend a Paviors Building Future Skills programme - a three-day experiential world-of-work programme for young people preparing for their post-18 transition. This was generously funded by The Worshipful Company of Paviors, and hosted by Mace at their Peterborough Court site offices. The first day involved a tour of #Mace's Peterborough Court site, a landmark refurbishment project in the heart of the City, where students gained insight into real-world construction processes and heard from professionals working across various roles. Following a careers networking session hosted by the industry volunteers at Mace, they were then split into teams and given their project brief of designing a floor for office use in the building. Day two involved young people working on their projects and brushing up on their presentation skills, all while working alongside industry professionals and gaining insight into their unique career paths. On the final day, the programme concluded with each team presenting their project designs to a panel of industry experts, including Paviors' very own Master, Charlie Laing. A huge thank you to the Worshipful Company of Paviors for generously funding and supporting this programme, and to Mace for hosting us and providing inspiring volunteers to support. It was a huge success, with students leaving inspired, more confident, and better informed about the diverse opportunities available within the construction and built environment sectors. 💬"Some time after the course ended, a young person thanked me for our support. Surprised, I realised we had truly made a meaningful contribution." - Glyn Kyle, Charitable Committee Member at the Worshipful Company of Paviors. 💬"I am always amazed to see how the students develop and gain confidence over the three days of the workshop. Developing both their employability skills and a deeper understanding of the opportunities within the built environment." - Sue Hardy, Head of Social Value at Mace. #PaviorsBuildingFutureSkills #InspiringTheNextGeneration #CareersinConstruction #Mace
