🎉 New Harold Moody health centre officially opens at the heart of the Aylesbury estate 🎉 The centre is made up of two local GP practices, providing a brand-new neighbourhood base for delivery of community health services. Aylesbury Medical Centre (Nexus Health Group) and East Street Surgery began welcoming patients in February to their purpose-built and fully accessible premises on Thurlow Street. The centre was named after Dr Harold Moody following a public vote. Dr Moody came from Jamaica in 1904 to study medicine at King’s College, London but was unable to get work as a doctor due to racial prejudice and so set up his own GP practice in Peckham in 1913. The addition of the health centre largely completes this new neighbourhood hub and is a key component of our work with Southwark Council regenerating the Aylesbury, providing the local community with increased and improved access to healthcare. Matthew Cornwall-Jones said:"We are proud to celebrate the opening of the Harold Moody Health Centre, a crucial addition to the Aylesbury regeneration. In partnership with Southwark Council, we have worked to create a vibrant neighbourhood hub that delivers high-quality homes alongside essential services. “This health centre not only honours the legacy of Harold Moody but ensures that residents have improved access to vital amenities, reinforcing our commitment to building thriving communities." https://lnkd.in/eF8zjF7y

We’re a not-for-profit on a mission to deliver better homes, connections and places. We're making London home.
About us
We’re a not-for-profit organisation providing more affordable homes for Londoners. A home provides the basis for a stable and healthy society, but the capital’s housing crisis means that for too many Londoners, a home is out of reach. We’re a not-for-profit organisation with a focus on providing quality homes at below-market rents for people who would otherwise struggle to afford them. We are both a landlord and a developer, with more than 60,000 existing homes and 10,000 more in our pipeline, and a well-established commercial business from which we reinvest surpluses to support the provision of below market-rent homes across the capital. Founded in the 1960s to address slum conditions in west London, we’re now one of London’s largest charitable housing associations and a leading advocate and trusted partner to local councils and government, giving Londoners a base and community from which to achieve their potential. Powered by half a billion pounds of investment through our Better Together strategy, we’re on a mission to improve how we deliver even better quality homes, connections and places for our 130,000 existing residents. Alongside working better together for our residents, we’ll also continue to build and develop new and more affordable homes, so that more people can continue to make London home. Huge congrats to our own George Clarke who was on the team pitching the most impactful and most feasible idea from Leaders Plus 12. We're always proud to see our colleagues excel on this excellent programme.
Congratulations to all our Leaders Plus 12 candidates who graduated after pitching innovative ideas for future-proofing London. From harnessing the wasted energy from data centres and boosting community-led innovation to a non-profit consultancy to retrofit social housing, our cohort tackled this big theme from all angles. The golden thread running through all the proposals was partnerships, including with the tech sector, communities, social landlords and cultural producers. Our candidates all acknowledged that London faces significant challenges, but each group highlighted the importance of collaboration to make the most of spaces and develop resilience. The winning pitch, voted most impactful AND most feasible idea, was: 🏆 Save the Last Dance: Future-proofing London’s Nightlife - by George Clarke, Conor Keappock, Yvette McKenzie-Ray, Blair Parkinson and Sukhi Randhawa. They pitched a toolkit to futureproof London's nightlife through simplified licensing regulations, new business support arms, and grant programmes. Tools include the establishment of 24-hour buildings and night zones to diversify the night-time economy and get more out of spaces, with the recognition of the cultural status of venues. Congratulations to our winners and to all of our presenters! Thanks to Related Argent for supporting Leaders Plus, and Jamie Smith for speaking on their behalf last night. Thanks also to Ben Maltby, Steve Perkins and Turner & Townsend for hosting us! You can read all the proposals and find out about our leadership development programmes via the link in the comments below. Very grateful to confirm last week NHG secured it's first Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) from the Building Safety Regulator. A career milestone well met. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in making this happen, including, but definitely not limited to, Joseph Vereenooghe, Lesley Precilla, Jake Le Page, Amir Miah, Andre Sandiford MIFSM, as well as the local onsite staff and wider building safety team at NHG. Proud to see the work we are doing to keep our residents safe, and avoid tragedies like Grenfell ever happen again. #NottingHillGenesis

Joint plan on social housing remediation We’ve committed to government plans to accelerate the remediation of buildings which need cladding replacement and ensure our residents feel safer in their homes. The joint plan on social housing remediation, to which we are signatories, is supported by more than £1 billion to give social landlords equal access to funding schemes. As part of this plan, signatories have pledged to speed up work to assess and fix their buildings and to improve support to social tenants before, during and after remediation work. It is backed by a new Remediation Bill that requires remediation of buildings taller than 18 metres to be completed by the end of 2029, with buildings between 11 and 18 metres having to be finished by the end of 2031. Andy Mackay, our director of building safety, said: “We support the government’s work to listen to and work with us on the remediation of buildings with cladding safety defects. Our objective has always been to ensure the safety of residents and their visitors and we have already completed work to 50 buildings. The joint plan sets out a clear and achievable framework for delivering remediation work and we’re pleased to be early signatories to this.” 👉 https://bit.ly/410qlTV

Really pleased for all the residents at Oaklands Rise, a Notting Hill Genesis estate in north London. The first commercial unit is now in place and adds to the placemaking that Mića Joseph and her team are trying to make a reality. This has taken patience to get over the line and as with all places there are areas to focus on and improve around this which Rob and Derek and committed to realising. George Clarke and his team have played a strong supporting role in bringing this first commercial unit to the estate. Having strong vibrant communities needs engagement and the involvement from all types of properties and we wish the new owners all the success in the coming years. #housing #placemaking

🎉 Well done to our building safety team! 🎉
🥳 Such a fab day yesterday with the team putting our first building assessment certificate (BAC) This entire process has been a real learning experience of where we do things well and how we can do things better. It’s also been a brilliant example of cross-team collaboration and problem-solving. We now know so much more about what we need to pass the assessment, which we’ll learn from when putting building safety cases together in future. I'm so proud of the team and everyone who helped get us here – in particular Joseph Vereenooghe, Jake Le Page, Andre Sandiford MIFSM, Arnold S., Omar Amin, Amir Miah, Rob Hodgson, Derek Osafo, Martin Southern and James Hawton.

We're thrilled to be today's news in The Art Newspaper! Bow Arts is delighted to announce that we have purchased two buildings: our beloved Lakeside Centre in Thamesmead, and a new building in the Hackney Yards development. Quoted in the piece, our CEO Marcel Baettig says: We're looking to secure more of our portfolio so that we've got long-term control over the rent [...]. It means we can keep rents down and have a long-term fund where we know exactly what our income will be, so that we can invest back into our local community through education and direct our services.” Thank you to Aimee Dawson, Marina Cochrane and to Arts Council England Peabody and Notting Hill Genesis for support to make this possible. Keep following us for more on this story soon. Read more: https://lnkd.in/erRBEfwh #affordableartiststudios #artistnews #theartnewspaper #bowarts
