Improving care, transforming lives... for a better Bolton

About us

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated care organisation, providing care in the community at over 20 health centres and clinics as well as services such as district and school nursing. We also provide services at the Royal Bolton Hospital and received a 'Good' overall rating from the CQC in July 2016. We have three fundamental aims:- • Best care for better health (for our patients and our community). • Responsible use of resources (for the taxpayer). • Valued, respected and proud (by our staff, patients and public). We aim to:- • Meet the health needs of our population. • Improve the safety and quality of care. • Improve patient experience. • Make our services more efficient. The Trust employs over 5000 members of staff, on full or part time, permanent and fixed term contracts. We also have a number of different ‘banks’ of staff who work on an as required basis for the Trust. You may be surprised how many different job roles the Trust has; it is certainly not just doctors and nurses (although they do make up the majority of our workforce). At Bolton, we are committed to supporting and developing our staff from when they first start in the organisation. If you would like to find out more about working for the Trust and the vacancies we currently have available please visit the NHS Jobs website: www.jobs.nhs.uk and search for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

  • The University of Manchester has given us a gold award for providing an ‘excellent standard’ to medical students who are on placement in Elderly Care and Microbiology. Students in the fifth year of their medical degree, who are asked to complete an evaluation of each placement they attend, provided an average score of 4.98 out of 5 for their experience at Royal Bolton Hospital. The good news continues, as the latest results from the University reveal the Trust received gold awards in a number of other areas, as well as silver and bronze. Our Medical Director, Dr Francis Andrews, said: “Medical placements are an important way to provide first-hand experience and for students to apply some of their learning to the real world." Congratulations to all of our consultants, resident doctors, wider teams and Medical Education for the fantastic work your deliver. READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/ePUBd_cv

  • We're sharing advice on the best ways to access NHS services in Bolton during upcoming strikes. Residents doctors will take part in industrial action from 7am on Friday 25 July until 7am on Wednesday 30 July. The strikes are set to have an impact to how healthcare services are provided. If patients have not heard of any changes to their appointment or procedure they are asked to still attend as they normally would. Please continue to come forward for urgent and emergency care! ▶️ Visit our website for what you need to know: https://lnkd.in/eXY_8tGt

  • Our annual Proud2bOps @ Bolton conference took place this week, spanning two days and focusing on building Quality Improvement (QI) skills for our operational leaders. Our Trust QI leads, Debbie Redfern and Joe Jones, delivered an engaging and interactive training session. They guided our leaders through identifying issues affecting patient care and quality using data, and then applying practical QI tools to develop effective solutions. Following the training, each division will launch a QI project to apply these new skills and implement tests for change aimed at enhancing patient care, quality, and overall experience. Michelle Cox, Director of Operations, said "It was great to see over 50 operational leaders from the organisation come together over the two days with such an enthusiastic approach to learning new skills. "We don't want the learning to end here and we will be meeting again in September to see the output from each division QI project and agree how we can implement their test for change wider"
