This is an exciting time for us at Liverpool University Hospitals Charity. We are working extremely hard to continuously contribute to the improvement of treatment and care of our patients, and it is our aim to provide our hospital and our clinicians with the best possible equipment to help provide the best treatment to those who need it. We want to help save lives, and we will continue to work closely with our consultants and departments to identify new and exciting projects and equipment to fundraise for that will have a great and positive impact on our patients and their journey from diagnosis to treatment and recovery. Recently we raised enough funds to provide our Stroke Unit with a £35,000 FEES machine that will support stroke patients who are struggling to swallow. Not only are we making a difference to our stroke patients but we are working hard to raise funds to purchase an ultrasound machine for our Breast patients that will make a positive difference to the way in which we identify and diagnose breast cancer. We also intend to raise £100,000 to purchase an incredible Ultrasound Scanner for our Surgery Team, another £100,000 for our urology department and £35,000 worth of much needed equipment for our Endoscopy, Physiotherapy and Accident & Emergency teams. Every bit of support we receive, large or small will make a huge difference.

⭐THANK YOU THURSDAY⭐ We're shouting out to The wonderful team at Sutcliffe today, after we wrapped up another fabulous charity ball. This year’s event was more than just an evening of celebration, it was a powerful reminder of the compassion and generosity that can exist when collaboration is done properly. We are incredibly grateful to the amazing team at Sutcliffe for raising an astounding £29,000 in support of breast cancer services across our hospitals - this dedication and kindness is already making a real difference to the lives of patients and families across Liverpool. This event not only marks our third consecutive year of coming together to support our patients and families, it marks the team reaching an amazing milestone - £100,000 in donations to our charity since we started working together! Their way of saying thank you to the NHS and the incredible individuals who work tirelessly to improve patient care. THANK YOU! Being presented with the cheque, alongside the other wonderful charities involved in this year's event was special. Thank you to Liverpool Womens Hospital Charity and to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for being part of the best team to pull together another brilliant event. 🧡 This week is Dementia Action Week 🧡 So, we thought we'd take this opportunity to shout about our wonderful supporter, Professor Ananda Dulal Sarkar. Thanks to his generosity, a second Frances Centre at Broadgreen Hospital opened in April. The creation of the Frances Centre has been made possible thanks to Professor Ananda Dulal Sarkar, who made a donation to University Hospitals Liverpool Charity in memory of his late wife, Frances. The centre is a legacy of the outstanding work she did throughout her lifetime and the endless hours she devoted to helping others. These wonderful spaces aim to promote recovery and wellbeing for patients with delirium and dementia, but also support those in reablement at the hospital to develop and regain their independence. At the Sutcliffe Charity Ball, we had the privilege of sharing a powerful and deeply personal video from our very own Jacqui Johnson. Jacqui spoke openly about her journey through the past 10 months of cancer treatment, and her words touched every person in the room, reminding us exactly why we were there. Just days after the ball, Jacqui celebrated an incredible milestone and rang the bell to mark the end of her treatment. Jacqui’s words carried real weight, and we hope her story resonated with everyone there that evening. She reminded us of the importance of supporting our local healthcare charities, which provide care that so many of us rely on, and to be aware of our bodies and trust our gut when something doesn't feel right. Thank you to everyone in the room who helped bring our purpose into clear focus, and to Jacqui for your willingness to share your story so openly. Today is the day ⭐ We NEVER take for granted, the fact that businesses choose our hospitals - Aintree, Broadgreen & #Liverpool Royal - to benefit from their hard work, and we feel lucky to have been chosen by the wonderful Sutcliffe again. This event is always a special one, but tonight will be even more special for many reasons and we can't wait to be part of it.
