The CCA provides a single body for the whole of the county to champion its interests, deliver on local priorities and provide greater local accountability. ⭐ It will address key priorities such as improving public transport, boosting economic prosperity, and enhancing employment and skills to support accelerated growth. A thriving Lancashire is essential for the North of England to have a successful economy. With a population of 1.53 million residents and a gross value added of £40 billion, Lancashire already makes a significant contribution and holds enormous potential for the future. Now, in partnership with businesses and public service providers, the CCA will ensure Lancashire has a stronger voice on the regional and national stage, ensuring greater benefit from funding and other opportunities. The first ever meeting of the Lancashire Combined County Authority (CCA) took place this afternoon. Councillor Phillippa Williamson was voted in as the chairman of the new CCA, and Cllr Phil Riley was voted in as the vice-chairman.
