Last week our people and culture team attended the Seven Hills High School Careers Expo. An opportunity to share the great roles Council has available with the younger generation. Parents and students heard from Training Services, Kerfoot Pty Ltd Host employer and our Early Careers Business Partner Maria Hondrogianis about the process and opportunities for school leavers. They also heard from Kerfoot Apprentice Will and Council Business Admin Trainee Gabby Sciberras about their experiences. Following the panel, students and parents had the opportunity to chat with our team about next steps for their future. Kerry Robinson OAM Odette Bjazevic

Council has recently won the National Awards for Local Government, Road Safety (2025) award for the 'The risk of not planting trees along our streets' study. This multi-award-winning study was undertaken by a council-led team of researchers which challenged the motorist-centric attitude against street trees and found a range of risks to pedestrians, cyclists, home and business owners, and broader community from not planting. This risk-based assessment found planting trees along streets with speed limits of up to 70km/h could improve cyclist and pedestrian safety, community mental and physical health, temperature and infrastructure condition while keeping the community safe.
