Building a sustainable tomorrow
About us
At BAM, we imagine, create and enrich buildings and infrastructure across the UK & Ireland. Our vision is to build a sustainable tomorrow. We think beyond the build and focus on the bigger impact. It’s how we make the iconic buildings and infrastructure that shape our society. And that’s why we’re on a mission to make possible. Connected communities, new habitats and brighter futures. These are just some of the things we’re making possible, wherever we go. At the top of our list is always making a positive impact possible - to create a more sustainable tomorrow, for everyone. BAM. Making Possible.

🤝 Working collaboratively across sectors to protect nature. Nature-Positive Transition Pathways are practical plans to help businesses protect and restore nature and BAM is proud to work with Green Finance Institute and WWF-UK to support the development of NPPs. Just as Net Zero Transition Pathways have guided private sector efforts on decarbonisation, the NPPs will offer clear roadmaps for how our industry, and others, can contribute to the UK’s nature targets. BAM is honoured to be among the initial signatories of the NPPs, reinforcing our commitment to Building a Sustainable Tomorrow. 🚆 Your 2025 Rail Bridge Project of the Year 🏆 The Grand Surrey Canal Bridge in south London is back - ready for the next 120 years. Delivered by BAM in partnership with Network Rail and designed by Tony Gee and Partners, this award-winning upgrade brought a key rail route into London Bridge Station back to full capacity - while creating new public walkways and retail space beneath. Built using off-site methods, low-carbon materials and smart reuse of the existing structure, the project overcame a tight location and tricky ground conditions with minimal disruption. The judges praised the project’s sustainable, efficient approach that minimised railway disruption and enhanced community spaces. Completed on time and under budget despite complex ground conditions, it demonstrated exceptional management and value. Connecting communities. Built to last. #MakingPossible #Rail #Infrastructure #EngineeringExcellence

🌊 Making waves: Connecting people and communities through design. The Zaha Hadid-designed Riverside Museum in Glasgow is more than just a stunning architectural feat. With over 1.3 million visitors a year, the museum has become a hub for community, curiosity and connection, where Scotland’s transport history comes to life. The flowing waves and bold zig-zags weren’t just an engineering challenge - they create a space that connects past and present generations and stories. Connecting Communities: Building a Lifeline to the UK’s Most Remote Inhabited Island. We follow BAM Senior Site Manager, Paul McGougan, as work begins on vital new ferry infrastructure for Fair Isle — a small but resilient community nestled between the Shetland and Orkney islands. For the people who call Fair Isle home, the ferry is more than just transport — it’s their connection to the wider world. As Paul explains: "This is where the Good Shepherd brings all the produce — it's the lifeline to this island." Funded by the UK Government, this project isn't just about concrete and steel — it’s about preserving the future of Fair Isle by strengthening the links that matter most: between people, their island and the world beyond. Focusing solely on entry-level jobs won’t fix the skills shortage, “that’s old-school thinking," said Kim Sides, who leads our construction division, on BBC Radio 5’s Wake Up to Money this morning. We need to shift our focus and invest in mid-career talent - and get better at telling the real story of what our industry has to offer. That was just one of the big topics Kim discussed with Will Bain today. Listen to the full conversation @ 3:50: https://orlo.uk/Jdozh #Skillshortage #Construction #Opportunities #MakingPossible
