  • Manchester Airport, proud to connect the North ✈️ Our journey has seen us evolve from an airport handling a few thousands passengers in 1938, to one welcoming 30m through our terminals a year today. With 50 airlines serving 200 destinations across four continents and a £1.3bn transformation programme, we're building a world-class airport that connects people to the world for business, leisure, education, family or new experiences. We are proud of our history, heritage and landscape, and the people, culture and warmth that makes your Northern airport. 🔊 Sound on for Stellify by Ian Brown.

  • Last week, our Executive Committee took part in biodiversity training led by award-winning botanist Josh Styles (Styles Ecology Ltd). The session provided valuable insight into the habitats and species across our Manchester landholdings, highlighting the vital role nature plays in carbon capture, water purification, and ecosystem health. The team visited the Runway Visitor Park (Site of Biological Importance), Cotterill Clough (Site of Special Scientific Interest), Hooksbank Wood, and the Bollin Oxbows (Local Widlife Site) —home to ponds, ancient woodland, species-rich meadows and ancient grassland flora.

  • Today, we reached a major milestone for our £1.3bn Manchester Airport Transformation Programme with the official opening of the new Terminal 2 Departures East area. Passengers are now able to enjoy six new retail offerings, including Rituals, Starbucks, LEGO, Pandora, Upper Crust and Joe & the Juice. Plus, World Duty Free Express is set to open next week, adding even more choice for travellers. The new space also features even more seating and stunning views of the airfield. A dedicated Assisted Travel area is set to open in September, further improving the overall customer experience. Thank you to the teams who made this milestone possible. • Manchester Airport is pleased to see that Essar and NorthPointe Energy have been awarded a total of £4.5m by Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom to support the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the North West.   Manchester Airport Managing Director, Chris Woodroofe said: “This funding will mean airlines using Manchester Airport will have direct access to SAF via the existing pipeline from the Stanlow production site.” “We are delighted that our region is playing a leading role in the creation of a domestic SAF industry, which will support the creation of thousands of new green jobs and help the UK aviation industry reach net zero by 2050.”

Seventeen UK companies have won a share of £63 million to accelerate sustainable aviation fuel production, supporting around 1,400 jobs and positioning the UK as a global leader in clean aviation.   This investment brings the total Advanced Fuels Fund commitment to £198 million. With sustainable aviation fuel reducing emissions by up to 70% over its lifecycle, we're not just aiming to create cleaner flights, but kickstarting economic growth and delivering on our Plan for Change to make Britain a clean energy superpower.   #SustainableAviation #CleanEnergy    OXCCU TECH LTD  LanzaJet

  • Manchester Airport was proud to be part of the Government's Task and Finish Group that worked towards these important recommendations. We welcome any moves that help to make air travel easier and more accessible for disabled people. We were pleased to help shape these improvements, sharing best practice from our assisted travel service which provides one-to-one support for hundreds of thousands of passengers who need it every year on their journey through the airport and onto aircraft. We develop our assisted travel service by listening to and collaborating with people with lived experience of disability and are committed to ensuring we meet and exceed these new guidelines as we continually seek to improve the airport experience for all our passengers.

We're pleased to announce that direct flights from Manchester Airport to Bangkok will commence this winter ✈️ From November 2025 until March 2026, Norse Atlantic Airways will operate a weekly winter service from Manchester to Bangkok. Manchester Airport will become the UK's only airport outside London with direct flights to Bangkok. The city's popularity is driven by its rich culture, nightlife and good value for money. Chris Woodroofe, Manchester Airport Managing Director, said: "Here at Manchester Airport we’re proud to connect the North to the world. Bangkok is one of the most exciting destinations on the planet – and is rightly one of the most popular. “Many people from the region travel there every year but until now they have had to book connecting flights. This new route will make a huge difference by meaning people can get there directly from the UK’s global gateway in the North." Read more here ➡️ https://bit.ly/44okj1L
