About us

The North West Ambulance Service Charity provides support and enhancements to the North West Ambulance Service by funding life-saving equipment and other projects to benefit the health, wellbeing and safety of patients, staff, and our communities. As a legal separate entity from the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, the charity is completely reliant upon generous donations and fundraising from the public, businesses, grant funders along with support from our colleagues & volunteers. This means we can provide these important initiatives, which are all over and above the provision of statutory NHS budgets. The donations our charity receives do not subsidise the work of the North West Ambulance Service – they enhance it.

  • ⭐️Thank you Thursday ⭐️ Part 1! On one of the hottest days so far this year, 12th July, supporter Marc North took to Snowdon to take part in The Snowdon24. 🏃🏻 The Snowdon 24 event is a 24-hour challenge where participants ascend and descend Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in Wales, as many times as possible within the time limit. 🗻 Donations to Marc’s fundraising page have raised an astonishing £2205 which is just incredible and will make a life-saving difference to communities within the North-West. 🤩 Marc has achieved so much despite the event being cancelled for safety reasons later in the day due to the extreme heat and we are so proud of him for everything he has done in terms of raising both much needed funds and vital awareness for our Charity. 🙏 Thank you so much Marc, you are a star ⭐️ Photo shows Marc giving the thumbs up just before he set off on his challenge in his NWAS Charity t-shirt. 💚 If you would like to do your own challenge in support of our charity please get in touch Charity.Office@nwas.nhs.uk

  • 🎉 Thank you, Abseil Heroes! 🧗♀️🧗♂️ On this #ThankYouDay we want to send a massive thank you to every single one of our amazing participants who took on the Trafford Palazzo Abseiling challenge on the 29th June. 🙌 We have been bowled over by their determination and commitment, and it shows in their combined fundraising total which now stands at a fantastic £5,521 🎉 This is a truly wonderful total and we are so thankful to each and every one of our amazing team, who each took part in the event for their own personal reasons as well as for one collective mission to raise funds in support of our cause, and we think you'll agree that they all did themselves and us, very proud indeed. 💚 From all of us here at the NWAS Charity and on behalf of the patients, volunteers and staff of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust - THANK YOU and a big WELL DONE. • A heart-felt thank you to Jill and her family for this meaningful donation made in loving memory of David Banks. 💚

A big thank you to Jill Banks and her family, who have raised over £1,600 for the North West Ambulance Charity in memory of her husband David. She handed over the money earlier this month with her daughter, Adele, and grandson, Elijah, as part of an emotional reunion with Jarek, one of the NWAS paramedics who had tried to save David, after she had requested to meet the crew and thank them for their efforts. • Stacksteads Ambulance Station has benefitted from charitable funds 💚 It's the little things in life that make a huge difference to our Health and Wellbeing. This is why our NWAS Health and Wellbeing Lead for East Lancashire, paramedic Nicole Higgins has given the outside space at our station in Stacksteads station, Bacup a glow up. ✨ 💬Nicole said: "The space that has been created at Stacksteads station will provide a much needed quiet, relaxing spot outside for staff to enjoy their meal break or rest time they get at station. Staff’s health and wellbeing is paramount so if a little garden retreat can assist then that's what we hope to achieve. Thank you so much to the charity for supporting this 'wellbeing garden/area'. The charity's support allowed me to buy paint for the furniture, plant pots, plants/flowers and compost, it is very much appreciated." The NWAS charity are delighted to support these types of projects that continue to make a big difference to our staff health and wellbeing. The pictures show how the enhancements make the most of the outside space with the seating area and plants to help brighten up the area for staff. 🌺 To help us to continue to fund important projects just like this, please visit http://bit.ly/3T0bmoG to make a donation. • ✨Supporter Spotlight ✨ At the beginning of this year, supporter William (Bill) Morley set out on his mission to start fundraising with the aim of funding a number of community public access defibrillators within the communities around where he lives in Cumbria. All in loving memory of his son, Billy Morley. 💚 With the support of his friends, family, local businesses and individuals who have all donated, Bill has so far raised a magnificent £10,390 to the NWAS Charity and this has enabled us to provide 12 defibrillators so far to places which didn't have one installed previously, making them all rescue -ready. This is an incredible result and goes to show how communities can work together to make a life-saving difference. Special thanks also to Megan Stephenson, Community Resuscitation Engagement Officer for supporting Bill in his mission. ☺️ Bill's fundraising mission continues, and he has raised an additional £5,740 which is just wonderful. His efforts have led to inspire those around him to do their own fundraising and on the 12th July The New Crown Pub's Stephanie, will be facing her fears by doing a Wing Walk at Headcorn Aerodrome. Good luck Stephanie, you are amazing! 👏 To donate in support of Stephanie's wing walk or to Bill's general fund, please visit https://lnkd.in/eKkVMjXb Thank you to Bill, his family and all of those who have helped him to achieve so much so far this year in memory of his son, Billy. Your help means we can continue in our mission to help the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to save more lives. 💚 Photos show a selection of the defibrillator presentations which have taken place so far along with the picture to advertise the wing walk.
