“These cabinets are a sign that every person’s beliefs and values are recognised and respected.” That’s how Paul Klein, Chaplain at WHH, describes the new multi faith cabinets now available at both Warrington and Halton Hospitals. Crafted from solid oak and placed in chapel and prayer rooms, the cabinets hold holy texts, prayer cards and faith resources – offering comfort when it’s needed most. They were created by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Benchmark team who supports people living with a mental health condition through creative, skills-based projects. David Lowery, Workshop Manager at Benchmark, said: “Our hope is that the cabinets will bring reassurance and practical support to anyone who needs it.” Funded by WHH Charity, the cabinets are helping make spiritual care more accessible and inclusive – for everyone.

  • Service users in Greater Manchester are helping to transform the future of mental health care. 15 experts by experience are sharing their lived journeys to help train the next generation of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (CBT). Their voices are shaping a new standard of learning at our Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC). Through co-produced videos, powerful storytelling, and active involvement in teaching, their insights are helping to ‘raise the bar’ for mental health education. As trainee Leanne put it, “They all do a wonderful job… being vulnerable about your own experiences cannot be easy but it is so appreciated.” This is more than training - it’s a partnership that empowers everyone involved. 💙 Click the link in the comments to read more. 👇 #TogetherGMMH

Today, Stewart Lucas, one of our Non-Executive Directors and Vice Chair of our Board, and I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon in the company of colleagues in the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway services partnership based in central Manchester. This is a specialised service delivered in partnership between GMMH and Greater Manchester Probation Service making a positive difference to the life skills and social capital of individuals on their way back into society. We met managers and staff - from both GMMH and GMPS. It was really interesting to learn about the psychologically informed connected interventions and activities - and how this ultimately improves the quality of life for the service users and also has a preventative impact in reducing reoffending. I was very pleased to hear how staff were working very collaboratively across the two organisations and how quite a few of our GMMH staff were rotating their roles between the three different healthcare services we provide as part of this ODP pathway. And it put a smile on my face to hear when staff were praising their leaders for being compassionate, supportive and prioritising innovation. Thank you for hosting us and for passionately educating us on these important services.
