After yesterday's news about his retirement, Andrew Davies shares his personal thoughts.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send me good wishes following the announcement that I will be retiring from Kier Group at the end of October. Serving this company and working with all our people, clients and partners has been a huge privilege and I am very proud of the shape the Group is now in. The transformation we have achieved has only been possible thanks to the capability, professionalism and hard work of our teams up and down the country. I am delighted for Stuart Togwell on his well-deserved appointment as the next CEO of Kier. For now, it is very much business as usual and Stuart and I have already started the work to ensure a smooth transition and to ensure we continue to stay focused on delivering infrastructure that is vital to the UK.

We’re delighted to be featured in the London Stock Exchange’s latest Green Economy Mark report, after being awarded the accreditation in 2023. In the report, which can be found via the link in the post below, you can read more about Kier’s work to build a sustainable future.
We are delighted to have launched insight into the London Stock Exchange’s Green Economy Mark for the 6th consecutive year. Today, the mark is held by 101 issuers with a combined market capitalisation of £195.3 billion, a record high for an annual Green Economy Mark cohort. "Cynefin" is a Welsh term that directly translates to 'habitat' but means more than that. It also relates to a deeper feeling of belonging and familiarity - an important reminder of the real world impact our work has on the communities we serve. Just one of the projects we are currently delivering is Ysgol Cynefin, a newbuild additional learning needs (ALN) school in Cardiff where we are providing spaces where students feel safe, supported and they can belong 💙 The project has special significance for James Butterfield, a senior recruiter at Kier. "Both of my children have additional learning needs, and we've definitely seen the difference it made for them when they attended an ALN school. They just thrived far better, to the point where they sat their GCSEs and are now attending mainstream college, doing the courses they want to do. It's light-years ahead of where we thought they would be when they were first diagnosed." For us at Kier, it's about more than building a structure, it's about creating lasting and meaningful places for the communities we are a part of. In this video, our site team talks about what it's been like working on Ysgol Cynefin, and how the project has shaped their careers. "What's going to give me the most satisfaction, is when we hand the project over and actually seeing on the first day the pupils coming to school and enjoying the facilities that we've provided." - Mark Poole, project manager Watch our full video on YouTube to learn more about what it's like to spend the day in the shoes of a site team at Kier.
