  • With its contemporary thriving mix of modern and historic, sporting heritage and cultural events, #Salford saw 8 million visits generating an economic impact of £1 billion in 2023. Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith, Lead Member for Culture, Heritage, Equalities, Sports and Leisure at Salford City Council said: “The city is full of ambition, opportunity, and innovation, and the continued drive by the council and other partners to put the city and region on the map will ensure that these figures will keep on rising and creating a place where people want to live, work, invest and visit.” Read more in link in comments.

  • Local schools and groups, including St Andrew’s CE Primary, St Patrick’s RC High, The Castle Community Centre, Talk About it Mate , and Healthy Heart Group worked together with Wild in Art to bring personal stories, mosaics, doodles, and colourful murals inspired by what they like about Eccles for the 'We Love Eccles' project. The artworks are displayed on hoardings surrounding areas undergoing demolition, including parts of the shopping centre and multi-storey car park. The first phase of demolition is already underway and will complete by the end of 2025. The rest of Eccles town centre, including Church Street and The Mall, remains open as usual. This work is supported by £5.4 million from the UK Government’s Capital Regeneration Project, which enabled Salford City Council to purchase and begin redeveloping the site. #Eccles #Salford #WeLoveEccles
