Speakers at Stockport’s Disability Pride, held at Stockroom, had some wise words for attendees last night. “My advice for succeeding is to find your tribe,” says Cllr Anna Charles-Jones, Leader of the Independent Ratepayers Group. Our EDI Change Lead Talitha Thornton agreed. “Surround yourself with people who love and uplift you,” she said. Thanks to everyone who came along to the event – it was a wonderful collaboration between our colleague and community networks. And thanks to Amiee Thompson and Michelle Conway for organising! 💗

A quick reminder to all fans: due to Greek St roundabout improvement works, there will be no trains running on matchday (the rail blockade starts on Saturday, August 2, until August 23). Please plan your journey - consider alternative transport if you can and allow extra time to get to Edgeley Park. If you’re driving, please be considerate to residents when parking in the area. 🚗 Speed limit reduction on the A34 From mid‑August, the 50 mph limit on the A34 between Broadway and the Cheadle Royal junction — close to Kingsway School - will be reduced to 40mph. The lower limit aims to protect all road users, including motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. More information here: https://orlo.uk/rrB7X

The next landmark moment in the creation of Marple's new Community Hub began yesterday. Work started to demolish the former police station on the site, and Cllr Micheala Meikle, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, was on hand to see it happen. Watch the video below for more👇🏼
