Speakers at Stockport’s Disability Pride, held at Stockroom, had some wise words for attendees last night. “My advice for succeeding is to find your tribe,” says Cllr Anna Charles-Jones, Leader of the Independent Ratepayers Group. Our EDI Change Lead Talitha Thornton agreed. “Surround yourself with people who love and uplift you,” she said. Thanks to everyone who came along to the event – it was a wonderful collaboration between our colleague and community networks. And thanks to Amiee Thompson and Michelle Conway for organising! 💗

Best of luck to Stockport County as they kick off their League One season against Greater Manchester neighbours Bolton on Sunday! A quick reminder to all fans: due to Greek St roundabout improvement works, there will be no trains running on matchday (the rail blockade starts on Saturday, August 2, until August 23). Please plan your journey - consider alternative transport if you can and allow extra time to get to Edgeley Park. If you’re driving, please be considerate to residents when parking in the area. Let’s show respect for our community and keep the County spirit positive both on and off the pitch! Come on, County! 💙⚽️

Merci pour tout, Brigitte. Wondering why we're speaking French? If you grew up in Marple, chances are you crossed paths with Brigitte! For more than 35 years, Brigitte has been a familiar face for families as a crossing patrol lady at Rose Hill Primary – always smiling, always sharing her love of French, and in turn becoming a real pillar of the community. From everyone past and present, we wish you a happy retirement Brigitte!

Could your business or organisation help improve the lives of children and young people in Stockport and across Greater Manchester? Some workplaces, such as Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, are fostering friendly, supporting foster carers who care for children and young people. Steve, who works for them, says his employer’s foster friendly policies have helped him and his wife, Donna, open their home and hearts to children and young people for over 13 years. Today, they’re supporting a young man with autism to live independently - and thrive. “Pennine Care NHS has provided invaluable support. Their flexible working policy means I can attend meetings with teachers and social workers, and provide a loving environment for the children and young people we’re caring for.” We’re proud to back our foster carers and encourage more organisations across Greater Manchester to do the same. Could you foster? If you’re over 21 with a spare room and a kind heart, you might already have what it takes. Learn more at https://fosterforgm.com/ or call 0300 303 0321.

We love local businesses... until they beat us at Padel 😭 Well done Indurent! And thanks to everyone who got involved - great to see so many people coming together at Life Leisure's new court to get fit and have fun!
Stockport Exchange occupiers have been enjoying the new padel court by taking part in a thrilling tournament organised by CBRE UK 🎾 After a series of exciting matchups, Indurent took the win in today’s final against Stagecoach Group Limited Over the past few weeks, teams from HURST Accountants, musicMagpie, GWS and Stockport Council also took part, showing great teamwork and community spirit. It’s been fantastic to see our tenants using the court and creating new ways to connect outside the office. Another reason why #StockportExchange is more than just a place to work. 👉 Book a court at Life Leisure 👉 Discover the Stockport Exchange neighbourhood: https://lnkd.in/dmitrud #PadelTennis #TenantCommunity #WorkplaceWellbeing #Stockport Muse
