22,880 plastic bottles a year are saved in Manchester by Refill. That’s the same length as 160 blue whales nose to tail! 🐳 If more of us filled a reusable bottle at home to take out with us – instead of buying drinks in single-use plastic bottles – that figure would be much higher. 🚰 The problem with plastic is although many types can be recycled, they aren’t. Most end up in landfill or littering our environment. 🌱 The good news is we can make a difference. There are more than 400 places to refill a water bottle for free in Manchester. The Refill app is a great way to find them. But you can just ask if an organisation is part of the Refill scheme. All our libraries provide free water refills and lots of cafés around the city do to. And you don’t need to buy anything. Find out more about the problem with plastic and get the Refill app: https://orlo.uk/BKs6q #ZeroCarbonMcr #Refill #PlasticFreeJuly

Not sure about something? 💭 We'll be around today answering all your questions about the closure; from where to get your coffee fix to how to return books, hit us in the comments and we'll fill you in 🙌

🥳 Wow what a fabulous Saturday it was at this year’s Manchester Day. Inspired by a sensational summer of music, the mini-parade kicked off the day led by fantastical creatures, acrobats, performers and the city's very own Queen Bee. We even had the world’s largest dhol drum 🥁 Manchester Day is one of our free annual events held in the city to get the school summer holidays off to a great start. It's all about communities getting together to celebrate Manchester and, more importantly, to bring joy to our families, children and all to make magical Manchester memories. Thank you to sponsors Manchester Airport 🙏 You can find out more about the day here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eFztD8-Y #ManchesterDay #ThisIsThePlace
