  • Today, on the anniversary of the beginning of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, it’s a moment to reflect on one of our projects that has delivered lasting value beyond the event itself. Sandwell Aquatics Centre was built not just for elite competition, but as a long-term asset for the community. A place to inspire future generations and support everyday health and wellbeing across the region. We were proud to have played a key role in making that vision a reality. Our team delivered the full range of building services across the centre, powering the pools, heating systems and lighting. To help keep the project on time and to the highest quality, we manufactured key components, from plantroom skids to multi-service modules, offsite at our award-winning facility. Three years on, it’s great to see Sandwell continuing to serve the community as a vibrant and inclusive space.

  • Last week, we celebrated the completion of the University of Oxford’s Life and Mind Building. A standout project designed to support world-changing research and exceptional teaching which will soon welcome pioneering scientists and students across psychology and biology, as well as the INEOS Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research.   At SES, we’re proud to have played a vital role in its delivery. Our team’s expertise in MEP engineering and offsite manufacturing helped shape a building designed to perform under pressure and inspire innovation.   The Life and Mind Building is a great example of what’s possible when expert engineering meets a shared vision, delivered in partnership with Legal & General, the University of Oxford, and a first-class project team.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the practical completion of Oxford University's Life and Mind Building alongside our client Legal & General and the University of Oxford. This 25,000m² facility will serve 800 students and 1,200 researchers across the Department of Biology and Department of Experimental Psychology, while housing the new Institute for Antimicrobial Research. Our industry-leading engineering and offsite manufacturing expertise delivered customised MEP solutions with remarkable precision, including: -22 M&E risers -600+ distribution modules -Multiple pump rooms manufactured in-house. This technical excellence saved 11,000 hours compared to traditional methods, demonstrating the agility and assurance that sets SES apart. This project exemplifies how our pioneering engineering solutions can transform educational infrastructure, creating high-performance environments that support groundbreaking research while meeting the challenges of modern construction expectations. Congratulations to the entire project team on this exceptional achievement. SES Engineering Services #OxfordUniversity #EngineeringExcellence #OffsiteManufacturing #MEP #TechnicalExcellence

  • Another year, another shortlist … we’re proud to see our manufacturing team recognised once again at the Offsite Awards, finalists this year for the Digital Innovation Award.   This follows a brilliant night at the Digital Construction Awards this week, where we were shortlisted for Digital Team of the Year. While we didn’t take home the trophy, it was a great opportunity to connect with others driving innovation across the sector.   It’s all part of a journey, one that our Head of Digital Transformation, Dr Ben Jowett, reflected on in his recent thought piece. His call for a systems mindset across the built environment is something that resonates strongly with how we’re approaching digital transformation at SES. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/erbtuRjm

  • We’re incredibly proud of the SES team members and our partners who completed the Transpennine Trail Challenge last week, a three-day, 215-mile bike ride from Southport to Hornsea, in support of The Lighthouse Charity.   Through determination, teamwork, and a few sore legs, the team not only conquered the coast-to-coast challenge, but raised over £22,000 to support the vital mental health and wellbeing services The Lighthouse Charity provides to our industry.   A huge thank you to every one of our colleagues and valued partners who donated and cheered them on along the way. This incredible effort reflects our people's commitment to both physical wellbeing and mental health support in construction, and we couldn't be prouder. • Our Head of Digital Transformation, Dr Ben Jowett, shares a powerful perspective in his newly published opinion piece in Digital Construction Plus: “Reimagining the built environment with a systems mindset.”   He explores why our industry must shift from isolated problem solving to integrated, systems-level thinking — highlighting how greater collaboration and connectedness can unlock far more value across the built environment.   This evening, Ben will also be serving as a judge at the Digital Construction Awards, where we’re proud to have our digital team from our offsite manufacturing facility shortlisted for Digital Team of the Year!   At SES, we’re incredibly proud of the technology-driven thinking that’s embedded across all areas of our business, powered by passionate teams who are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Best of luck to all the finalists tonight and a huge well done to our fantastic team! Read the article here 👇 https://lnkd.in/erbtuRjm

Some huge milestones hit by the SES Engineering Services team at 100NBS over the past few weeks. The last of the prefab riser modules were installed, and this weekend the successful lifting and positioning of 2No 14T ASHPs and a Packaged Plant Room. Great to see offsite manufacturing pushed to its limit at this ‘cut and carve’ project - 45 riser modules, 3 plant skids, 12 service modules, a packaged plant room and circa 300 VAV modules. A great effort by all involved!
